Anyone see the movie on FX a few months back that predicted this??
Was talking with a friend last night and he said he watched a movie on FX network a few months back called "Oil....something" that almost, moment for moment predicted exactly what we are witnessing now in NO. Anyone else see this or know what he was talking about?

2. Very similar plot, kinda eerie.
A hurricane took out the major pipelines & refineries in The LA Gulf Coast. Also a terrorist attack on one the the major oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. Gas went to $8.00 a gallon. It showed the effect on farmers without fuel to run their farms; food shortages, etc. Farmers abandoned their farms. Also showed the effect of heating oil shortages, people were freezing to death in their homes. The end was cheesy though, we ended up pleading with Russia to send tankers to Houston and everything was okay.

Yes, I've been thinking about that since Katrina was heading straight for NO.

Note: the site lists the hurricane as a Cat 6 (which doesn't exist), but the movie said it was a Cat 4.

5. YES
I saw that movie also. The movie was filmed as a fake documentary using existing studies as to what could trigger a gas crisis in the country.

It was fiction (at that time) but it started off with a ... get this ... a CAT-5 hurricane hitting New Orleans. The oil infrastructure was devasted as well as many of the oil rigs in the Gulf.

This caused a huge spike in gas prices. The documentary then went on to show that much of the oil & gas that went to New Orleans was re-routed to Houston. And yes, the SPR was tapped to help alleviate the short fall in oil production in the gulf.

Not in crisis mode yet, but then an accident involving a super tanker and a cargo ship closed the water way's to the refineries in Houston.

Gas ended up being almost $10 a gallon forcing the country into a depression.

Remember, although the movie was fake, it used factual information from existing studies as to what could happen.

6. wow....can you imagine how the
producers of that program must be feeling?!?!? sort of like Chris Carter and the folks over at "The Lone Gunmen" must've felt with their episode about the WTC attacks!!!

10. That's not a joke.
The overwhelming dependance on oil we have has accelerated global warming all over the region. Its in turn taking out our oil structures.

7. Yeah, I saw it
We still need the major attack on the Saudi refineries and the catastrophic shipping accident in the port of Houston. Then we'll be up to $8 a gallon...

8. Fox seems to air programs that "predict" things that will happen in the
future.

Does anyone remember the pilot episode of Lone Gunman, that was about a commercial airliner almost deliberately flown into the World Trade Center? It was aired in May 2001.
