Governors : Take action ! |
|
Obviously, we cannot wait on the Federal government. We need the Governors of the neighboring states, TX, FL, AR, TN, KY, GA, SC, MO, and others to send convoys of whatever National Guard that they may have left, to New Orleans. They need to be there for whatever purposes they may be needed. There has to be some action. Somebody has to do something. People with boats should be called out as volunteers to assist in moving people out of water to military vehicles - to be moved to military posts or wherever they can be warm and dry and given food and water. Somebody needs to take charge.

2. Anyone know of any volunteer organizations.. |
|
That will take you on and let you go help out?
I am a licensed Paramedic, and I am sure there are thousands of Doctors, nurses, medics, emt's etc that would go volunteer to help out in NO or MS or AL.
Is there a need for this type of assistance?
Anyone?

4. I'm wondering the same |
|
I've got training in urban S&R and first aid, I would definately take some vacation and go down and try to help. I have looked around, but I am hearing that they do not want outside help or citizen involvement right now, I would assume because the situation is so disjointed.
I'll let you know if I hear anything solid.

7. Is this the way we respond to disasters |
|
cuz we are all f**ked if it is. I agree with you 110%, we need the neighboring states to pitch in. It is like they have about 3 helicopters and 5 boats, it is ridiculous to deal with this without the proper equipment. We need lots of boats and helicopters. I am not impressed with their response efforts at all. No planning, where is Homeland Security and FEMA?

Here in Missouri our national association of tourism bureaus has issued a challenge to all states to donate $1000 to each of the 3 state tourism depts affected by the storm.
The economic impact of their tourism is destroyed and we are hoping to help generate some additional revenue.

10. But would the governor of TN allow his troops to be under another's comman |
|
Let's follow the right's logic here. US troops can not ever be under anyone's command that is not american. Could TN National Guard ever be under LA Governor's command? I mean LA allowed this to happen so can LA be truly worthy of Commanding TN's Guard?
