are still at $2.69 but on 1st Avenue they are already popping up to over $3.00. The rest of the stations will soon follow.

It was posted last night that it is $3.54 in Chicago.

5. $2.65 on Sunday, $3.05 today.
Central Michigan. Yesterday, long lines to the gas stations created traffic problems. Station ownder said they are also cutting orders in half, and expected to get worse. I believe him.

6. $2.79 and running low.
Regular price is $2.79 and we were warned this morning that NE Kansas is running low on supply. I have not checked the diesel price today, don't want to waste the fuel to drive over to check it.

Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 10:59 AM by Suspicious
but I heard something on a radio program this morning about $3.48 by the end of the day. I guess we'll see.

I drive a car that gets 30-35 mpg, and I don't drive a lot. Unfortunately, however, we do have plans to travel this weekend.

On edit: I'm in southern Michigan.

20. Gas up 14 cents here since yesterday, $2.89 now but it gets far worse...
My wife filled up yesterday morning at $2.75 a gallon (for the cheap stuff). When I filled up at the same station this morning, I paid $2.86. As I was pumping, the station owner walked out to the sign and raised it again...to $2.89.

I stopped the station owner as he walked past the pumps on his way back in and struck up a conversation about gas prices. He told me that he'd already been advised that the destruction and loss of refinery capacity in New Orleans may drive his WHOLESALE prices to $3.50 -$3.75 per gallon in the next two weeks if something isn't done to fix the supply problem (retail prices will be even higher, of course).

Here's what I don't get though. I live in California, and all of our gas is refined in-state and comes from Venezuelan crude. How is the loss of Gulf capacity affecting oil availability HERE?

22. $2.79 in N.E. WI
$3.07 in Milwaukee. I had an interesting experience yesterday evening at our local Citgo. An older woman (late 70's early 80's)in line ahead of me turned around and said she thought the gas would cost over three dollars soon. My daughter told her it was already over three in Milwaukee. I just shook my head because I didn't want to risk going off in public (my daughter hates it). A man in his late 40's was behind me waiting to deliver Pizza Hut to the workers there. He went completely off, it was awesome. He started a rant about Bush and oil and the prices, he was practically screaming. No one in the store disagreed with him (about 3 others there at the time, 7 or 8 total). He even began to rant about Bush releasing the oil reserves when the refineries to process it were already destroyed.

The natives are getting restless. I've never experienced anything like this here. As a Dem I'm usually an outcast.

28. 37 cents since last night. Yesterday evening, after reading the DU
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 11:18 AM by Ilsa
thread about wholesale gas going up over $3/gal, I gassed up. Paid $2.60 for regualr unleaded. Midgrade was $2.68. That same midgrade is now $3 a gallon, up 37 cents.

Gas prices are all over the place here right now. Higher and lower for regular and midgrade all over town, but I expect it will stabilize more by tomorrow.

I've asked my husband to pick up some gas cans and fill them in case of shortages and if we have an emergency.

I'm glad I bought my bike two days ago!

30. Our Uncle Ed in Fl, a retired civil service employee, predicted this
last weekend. He said knew the supply in Fl and southeast US would be drastically reduced because they get all their gasoline via I-10 from NO.

If a smart guy like him can figure it out, I wonder what the gubmint was doing sitting on its hands all this time?
