Did Shrub Really Say This Today?
I saw this at another site. Did he actually make this comment this morning in TX?

From The Associated Press, 8/31/05:

Bush Jokes About Hurricane Disaster

By MIKE FULLER, Associated Press Writer

WACO, Texas -

When reporters asked the president if he would be going to the region to assess the damage, Bush responded "only if I can bring my fishing boat. There's some tasty catfish down there."

9. Cause bush continued reading
"The Pet Goat" after informed that New York was under siege and on Fire? bush was playing guitar(another photo op) in San Diego when New Orleans was going under water and people were dying?

Because bush was mocking Karla Faye Tucker(born again Christian) when she pleaded for her life?

5. I'd want to say no way
No way in Hell would he have said that. But then I start thinking about some of the things he HAS said and that I've seen him say, and I have to say, "Let's track this down. He just might have said it."

6. Saw It At The Bruce Springsteen Newsgroup
They're liberally slanted there, so it would not surprise me that something like that would get posted there, if he did indeed say it. I just don't know whether it was a joke or not, and figured someone here could verify it, if it were true.

7. I doubt it.
Not that I put it past him to think it OR say it, but I googled a bunch of word combinations from that and I am finding zilch. I'll try again later but that just seems to smack of parody to me.

14. Probably not, but I bet he wanted too. That's just the kind of nasty
mean spirited thing he'd say, jokingly of course. George is such a funny guy! :eyes:

16. It's no different than joking about 9/11
"That must be one terrible pilot." I'll believe the quote if it's link to a reliable source. I put nothing past him.

17. I don't know if Bush joked about New Orleans, but Bush has said worse...
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 11:28 AM by The Night Owl
In an attempt to explain how the combination of terrorist attacks, war, and economic recession might create a need to increase national debt, Bush callously said the following...

"Lucky me! I hit the trifecta!"

Mere months after the 9/11 attacks, George W. Bush declares the following...

"But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me."

And who can forget Bush having a few jokes at the expense of soldiers who he sent on a wild, but deadly, goose chase...
