That Red Cross number being aired on CNN (43,000 in shelters) does not reflect the entire population of both New Orleans and the Gulfport areas.

This is a huge crisis. The poorest people are the ones at the Superdome and the shelters. Those who couldn't afford hotels or to relocate temporarily.

BUT money is going to run out and people will have to conserve what they do have for the future...So what then! What happens in two weeks when a few hundred thousand are needing assistance.

My mother's neighbor here in PA is housing her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren who live in New Orleans, but many others won't be so lucky.
