1. So nice of the governer to overwhelm an already overcrowded school system

The mass concentration of these refugees is ridiculous. The entire country needs to step up and host families to spread the burden around.

Houston can't handle the schoolchildren it already has. They would have been better off setting up makeshift schools using refugee teachers.

4. Well maybe the feds could get off their asses ...
... and coordinate such a program with cities across the nation. Nothin' I can do about it. I'm just some pee-on with a computer and an internet connection.

2. What had the Astrodome been used for?
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 12:09 PM by RobertSeattle
Aren't the Houston Football and Baseball teams using different places now?

Wow - wikipedia already has an update.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrodome

On August 31, 2005, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Harris County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the State of Louisiana came to an agreement to allow at least 25,000 refugees from New Orleans, especially those that were sheltered in the Louisiana Superdome, to move to the Astrodome until they could return home.

6. Yes, the Stros are at Minute Maid Park, the Texans are at Reliant Park
The dome is just sitting there taking up space.
