Much Worse
I am very sad at what has happened as a result of Hurricane Katrina. However, I contend that the governors and other officials should stop comparing what happened to New Orleans and Mississippi to what happened to Hiroshimia 60 years ago and to Baghdad now. Both of these instances are much worse than what happened in New Orleans and Mississippi. In both the case of Hiroshimia and Baghdad what happened to them was the result of war and bombing. There was much greater distruction. So far I think only Senator Ladrieu has gotten it right when she compared the damage of New Orleans to the results of the Tsumani that hit Indonesia.

At this point I would like to point out that I lived just about all my life up to this point in Louisiana and went to college in New Orleans. I am very happy that New Orleans did not get a direct hit from Katrina in that it would have distroyed the city. However, the leaders of the states should not be comparing the damage to what happens during war. That type of damage is just so much worse than this type.

Having thousand pound bombs dropped on you must be worse than have a Hurricane hit. With the hurricane there is warning and time to prepare for the storm or leave. With bombs there is no time to prepare or leave and it seems just the shock of being bombed is much worse than a hurricane.

1. Yes, nothing is really comparable to nuking a city
Although many cities have been reduced to rubble for various reasons over the centuries, only two have had atomic bombs dropped on them.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki must stand alone as special cases.
