Randi: They predict things that never happen, and ignore things that do
Absolutely spot on: The Bush administration was running around scaring people about mushroom clouds from non-existent weapons that Saddam supposedly had. But a real live catastrophe that actually happens? Not a peep.

1. Yep. As wrong as they could POSSIBLY be.
200 billion dollars for a threat that was never there.

And due to that cost, they cut $71 million out of the NO levee and hurricane budget for the threat that was CERTAIN to materialize sooner or later.

3. Which Randi?
Is this Randi Rhodes talking about the Bush Administration, or James Randi talking about psychics? Or both?

I had exactly the same question: Radio Randi or Amazing Randi?

Seeing the quote in context, I'm guessing Radio Randi. But "both" certainly works for the Subject line!

When I first signed on to DU I got a PM from a mod asking if my screen name had anything to do with James Randi. This was before Air America. I guess there was a heated James Randi debate at the time :-) He/she was just making sure I wasn't here to cause trouble.

edit to include message:

Welcome!
If your username refers to James Randi, just try to keep extremely cool and study the DU rules diligently if you wander into the Meeting Room forum... :-)

7. A "heated James Randi debate?" Nah, couldn't be...
I love to drop his Million Dollar Challenge in the more...uh...let me word this carefully...

...credulous threads/groups.

I know, I know, it's like a little kid poking a stick into an ant-hill. Childish, but it sure is fun to watch the reaction.

I've seen him called a "fraud" and a "charlatan" umpteen times. But nobody ever seems to be able to prove the allegations. Wonder why that is?

...whistling innocently...

6. Yup, Rhodes
She's going off on Haley Barbour right now, who apparently said last night on Larry King that President Bush doesn't need to come down to Mississippi. "Are you out of your mind?!?!?!"
