George Bush-frozen
I have been emailing a conservative friend of mine about George's lack of leadership in the New Orleans catastrophe. After going back and forth with the usual bullshit on blame the democrats.I finally convinced him that Bush has dropped the ball. He finally agreed with me that we should have mobilized the Army yesterday to undertake this rescue mission. That it is way beyond anything that locals or the red cross can do. We all know that Bush is an idiot but more to the point is that he freezes in catastrophes. Lock at him reading My Pet goat or how he responded on 9/11 and how he is responding now. This man is what we would call in sports- a choker. He is just the lamest leader of all time. He is the soldier who freezes in combat. America may finally see him for who he really is -A complete waste of a human being

2. Indeed. Somewhere, someone is dying...
And George W. Bush is taking up the oxygen that he/she needs to live.

As you say, a waste of a human being.

and praise his leadership during this crisis. Approval ratings will skyrocket just like they did after 911 even though he did absolutely fucking nothing. The American public loves that waste of skin and he can do no wrong in their eyes.

9. hopefully not
it took me 10 emails to argue the point. He turned on cable and was blown away. I don't think he is going to escape this one. Gas prices hurts him more than Iraq and the lack of mobilizing the Army may haunt him as we see little boys on roofs asking to be rescued 2 days later. People will realize he didn't dael with saving his own people.

14. Bush knows exactly what he is doing
He doesn't freeze. He's stalling and he does it on purpose. He want to create as much chaos as possible. He needed a distraction.

15. He cuts his 5 week vacation short by two days
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 04:17 PM by kenny blankenship
but that's two days after the hit on the New Orleans area by Katrina, an intense and massive hurricane which up til a few hours before impact was rated at a Category 5 maximum.

It's 3 days after it was clear that Katrina would strike this heavily populated area as either a Category 5 or 4 storm, and lay down a broad path of devastation.

The vulnerability of New Orleans to hurricanes is not a secret to FEMA and DHS, or at least it's certainly no secret to NOAA and government agencies entrusted with the job of applying science to meterological threats.

What the fuck we're they thinking in the Bush royal entourage? No cause for alarm? No reason to get ready just in case something bad happens?

Good Lord, we actually AVOIDED the worst-case scenario! What the hell would be happening now, with this state of total unreadiness currently on display, if Katrina had pushed a 25ft. storm surge from the Gulf straight up into the city from due south with 150 mph winds in town? That was looming as a strong possibility on Sat and Sun while Bush was yukking it up in a resort town in California.
Where would we be with Bush in charge if the odds-on likely scenario feared by National Hurricane Center had played out Monday morning?
