People die after 3 days of no water. People die faster when the only water near them is a mix of fresh, salt, sewage, debris of every kind, dead bodies, etc.

Meanwhile the media can only be concerned with the looting. It takes a brave reporter out in the field every once in a while to actually put the situation in perspective.

Meanwhile FEMA and the law enforcement are trying to take the holy high ground and say they must treat looting ruthlessly.

Meanwhile the president and those who repeat him talk about this grand effort to bring food and water and essentials there and the effort to pick up the pieces. Lets not forget he was AWOL for days not caring. Lets not forget he is days too late in ordering assistance to save these people. That is, if he is even the one ordering anything.

Meanwhile people are fucking DYING. People are stranded and only the coast guard has been there to save people the past few days. Every minute counts when you're in a situation like this, but either people don't seem to recognize this, or they don't seem to care. People like us can donate and offer ourselves up to help with the aftermath, but we have no control over the situation that occurs in the first few days. The people who do have that control - mainly the president - did nothing at the time. THAT is what sickens me.

There are many many other threads on this issue, and they are moving by quickly. Don't take it personally if people don't respond in droves to your post for it has been done over and over.

It just can be a little hard when you're upset about stuff like this and the people you have to talk to offline have the firm belief that everyone in the government is always doing their best. Ugh. ;)

Absolutely heartwrenching. I'm supposed to be at work in a couple of hours and I don't even wanna go. I'm pissed and I've been grieving for those people and I fucking hate Bush!!!!!:mad:
