WHY IS CLARK THE ONLY DEM WITH BALLS RIGHT NOW?
WHERE ARE OUR DEMOCRATIC LEADERS?
WHY AREN'T THEY SAYING SOMETHING?

this is from Gen. Clark at http://securingamerica.com/

.............

Good morning. Yesterday was a long and rewarding day here in Iowa, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking with so many good people here. But like all other Americans, my thoughts frequently returned to the people suffering through the disaster that Hurricane Katrina has wrought along the Gulf Coast. And those thoughts kept bringing me back to a theme that we started talking about on Monday: leadership.

Our country is hurting right now. Our situation in Iraq is floundering; gasoline may reach more than $4 per gallon by Tuesday; and the entire Gulf Coast of the United States is wounded and limping. The common need our people have -- and count on -- to see us through these challenges is leadership.

From my days in the Little Rock Boys and Girls Club and all through my years at West Point and the Army, I learned and taught that leadership means lifting people up; challenging them to push themselves to succeed where they before thought success was out of reach. That philosophy was captured well by our Army motto, "Be All You Can Be," which also means helping others to be all they can be. What we need to do as individuals and a party is to stand up and speak out to create equal opportunity for economic success. To treat others the way we want to be treated. To reach out and help those who are in pain. Most importantly, leadership means calling on others to do all these things too.

He's my man now - someone with the balls to stand up for what's right and tell the truth about the incompetent and CRIMINAL Bush cabal.

Good question. WHERE are our leaders?

We have had more ideas, more intensity and more creative juices here than anywhere else. Heck, even CNN (!) is doing more than our leadership.

that should be an embarrassment, but, somehow, I feel resigned to dealing with that until the next primary.

Honestly, I, for one, am sorely disappointed in Obama and Durbin. Illinois should be front and center, sending help down the Mississippi. But our governor is a mess, and these guys are MIA.

12. part of the problem is our silence
especially when we NEED to make things happen. If the minority opposition party is too scared to call a spade a spade, a disaster a disaster, a Horrific Administrative Fuck Up a HAFU, then we need a new minority opposition party.

They should be out there making waves, demanding better performance, claiming just exactly how WE WOULD BE DOING A BETTER JOB.

Hell, the GOP did just that every year during Clinton. Now, they have been proven wrong. it is precisely the time to return the favor.

BUT our damned leaders are missing in action. Gone. Hiding from their own shadows. Afraid to take a stance, believe in something and DEMAND BETTER PERFORMANCE FROM OUR GOVERNMENT

sorry. I am shouting. But, I am pissed. Dead bodies tend to do that to me.

30. blm, are you asking about Clark?
He blogged it on Talking Points Memo Cafe...and at his blog at securingamerica.com.

He also called Bush to task for his failure to take this disaster seriously enough last night in a radio interview with Alan Colmes...which you can find the audio for here:
http://www.u-wes-a.com/vidclips/Fox_AC_083105.mp3

I don't think they've let him on any networks talking about this yet....

15. Most Dems worry first about. . .
being elected, then about what is morally right.

General Clark thinks vice versa. . .I'm sure his rare mind set has to do with the fact he felt a deep responsibility for his soldiers' lives as a commanding officer.

I don't think he could live with himself if he hadn't put people before power.

Doing what's right even when no one's looking.

24. and THAT is what is pissing me off right now
I am not surprised that Bush Inc. is handling this situation like crap. But I am very disappointed that Democrats aren't speaking up right now. They should all be out there raising a stink.

If Kerry was in office right now, handling New Orleans like shit, Republicans would be all over the news bitching about it. And they would be gaining votes because of it.

Wes has fought and bleed for this country. It breaks his heart to see what it has become under repuke leadership. I can see the pain and desperation in his face whenever I see him. It makes me want to cry too.

Now I *really* wish he had gotten the nomination. If he were President, we probably wouldn't be in this mess. And I *do* think he could have beaten Bush.

29. So it's Clark in 2008, huh?
The silence has been deafening. I realized last night that the first Democrat to step into the yawning leadership vacuum would be our next president. Even though I realized he has a big fan club on DU, I've never paid too much attention to him until now. I guess that's going to change, though.

32. One thing: he's not a career politician -- he hasn't had courage drained
out of him, over years of censoring himself. I'm remembering this in '08.

Someone posted this morning that they had a vision he was President. With his experience, he could have led this effort himself.
