sent home for cussing out coworker for saying "help the looters!"
in response to a company flyer announcing matching funds for red cross donations. I am a lowly telemarketer and we were on the callfloor and this man, who really pisses me off all the time and who was a card-carrying member of the American Nazi Party when he was younger and the HR lady was handing out flyers and I was at my station on lunch surfing coverage on the internet (other people were on the phones) and then two cubicles over and across from me (I had already moved away from him because of my disgust of his comments). So I was reading these sad ass stories and if you have been following my posts for the last couple days you know that I have been, like many of you, "a bit tense" to say the least, then I get this flyer and for the first time in days I feel good about something, like "wow" I am not the only one in this place that cares.... and then I hear him "Oh... Help the Looters!" I stood up and ran over to him and tore it out of his hands and yelled "YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE, ROY!" Man, that place got so silent on a dime the general manager was right there and took me into the office. Obviously, in corporate rules I was in the wrong but I do have all of the staff's sympathy. Swearing on the floor of a call center, especially LOUDLY is a huge no no in telemarketing as you can imagine. I should have gotten fired. I asked if I could get a leave of absence to go volunteer and they said sure. My wife just said I could have the car. (we only have one). So what organizations are looking for volunteers?

4. Glad you didn't get booted
But damn glad you stood up to that asshole. We have to stand and fight, so to speak, because if we don't, nobody will.
I had an experience at work today as well. I posted a thread about it and I guess it's in GD somewhere. Anyway, neither of us got fired (thankfully), but both of us stood and fought. Good luck on your journey. Hope it all goes well. We'll think good thoughts about you.

8. And what pisses me off
Is MOST Americans have never ever ever gone more than eight hours without a meal. They certainly have never experienced real thirst. I certainly never have. And A CHILD to FEED? You know what it's like when any normal kid is hungry but hungry for two days or more?

Judgement seems to be all America is about. We lost compassion circa 2000. Now, it's every animal for himself.
