Larry King: Barbour: "I begged people to leave"
Doesn't he get it? Some people didn't have the money or a car to leave.

2. it's sick
they couldn't leave because they are poor. Probably more had a car in his area, but bottom line is many just couldn't, especially the elderly for they are often unable to drive, on oxygen and so on.

Plus so many could not afford the gas and hotel bills.

The more I hear these officials go on CNN and give these blow off answers the more outraged I am becoming.

5. Did he offer them a ride?
You know - use state, county or city vehicles to transport people who can't drive or don't have a working car? Did any reporters think to ask that? Does he even live in Mississippi?

6. You son of a bitch! Why didn't you send the busses!
What a prick. A duplicitous prick. It was his responsibility to take action since he knew the situation intimately and he did nothing. Now he blames the victim. If there's an investigation to determine culpability, it should begin with him!

7. perhaps someone should ask Mr. Babour.. "how can people leave
when they don't make enough money to even pay for essentials let alone an evacuation?

How do they pay for gas and hotels when they don't have the money?????

8. It's one thing to evacuate when you have cash, credit cards and a car...
it's quite another when you have none of the above. Spin in any way you want. There were no plans in place to aid and assist those less fortunate. Shit, there weren't any plans in place PERIOD.

9. It doesn't matter, the images on the TV speak volumes as to why
people 'didn't' leave. Americans of all financial straits can see that people were stranded because of financial reasons. Maybe that is why these repukes are trying so desperately to push this stupid meme. They know they dropped the ball on not getting these poor souls to safety and they are afraid they will held accountable! And they will be!
