The following was posted on my MB by a man from Scotland. I don't usually do this, but I thought the perspective of a non-American might be of interest.

It's called Leadership

Something Bush has shown such a lack of that it has even surprised me and I have very low expectations of politicians in general and right politicos in particular.

I am embarrased for him he gives the impression of having been handed the job and not realising the gravity of it or the dignity and majesty of the office and what it represents.

He diminishes the office the nation and the people he purports to represent by his lack of quality in crisis. I am trying hard not think of those interminable minutes where he sat like a dazzled rabbit on recieving the news of the WTC. His gang of carpetbaggers seem little better.

When a disaster like this happens it ill behooves the head of state to remain on vacation or be attending fundraisers. That 'aw-shucks ma'am' shit won't wash when people are having their lives washed away.
