Jesus! Chimp says something sensible the first time in his damn life and
you people go ballistic! Yeah, he said "Don't buy gas if you don't need it." MY jaw dropped when I saw some DU reactions. It's obvious he meant "don't run out and get MORE than you need." :eyes:

I actually DID need some this afternoon, for the lawn mower so I went up the corner station and there were about TEN goddamn people waiting in line to 'top it off' and several of those had 4 and 5 gas CANS they were filling. So when I finally get there, IT IS ALL FUCKING GONE. So I
had to drive 5 miles to find a station that hadn't been sucked dry by a bunch of panicked morons.

2. Oh please
This is the administration who insisted that conservation was unecessary. Was folly. So now that they get the message, we're supposed to - what? What are we supposed to do but want to break rocks with our teeth.

4. My problem is that this is just such an obvious request
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:16 PM by uppityperson
doesn't seem like it needs to be said, and those that would listen to him are already out filling up. I've been driving my little electric voy bike around today, goes slowly but I get there and I look sooooo cute.

Did your lawn need an emergency mowing?

7. Bush just takes takes takes so he has no concept of the fact that
most people do NOT do the same. Most wouldn't buy more gas than they need.

5. Grow up karl. It was a stupid comment. And...uh...we don't have any
gas lines here...so it sounded super stupid. Opinions are usually welcome on opinion boards. :hi:

6. It was a STUPID comment to make
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:17 PM by zulchzulu
People who need to buy gas know they should buy it BEFORE THE PRICE GOES THROUGH THE ROOF!

It was an inane comment by someone who doesn't have a FUCKING CLUE about the skyrocketing cost of gasoline.

Better yet, maybe he does. He knows the cost of gasoline will be 10% higher than now in a week or two.

Yeah, don't buy gas today that you can buy next week for a lot more money.

Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:20 PM by Cleita
I buy a tank of gas when I get my SS check and it has to last me the month. It means I really plan my shopping and doctor trips to try to conserve as much as possible. I pretty much stay up on the side of my hill here day in and day out because it would waste gas to go on frivolous outings. I often arrive at the gas station to fill up riding on fumes. Thank god it's downhill.

Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:21 PM by bullimiami
who the hell has a bunch of extra gas cans and cars to go fill up.
most of the gas is used on a day to day basis by those who need it.
if everyone filled up today, they wouldnt need to fill up tomorrow.
if noone bought gas today, they would still need to buy gas tomorrow.

jesus he is a braindead rock.

i dont know where you are where a couple of goofus's with jerry cans could dry up the gas supply but I dont think its likely to be very common.

12. Well maybe if the Chimp and his buddies
stopped driving those huge 8 cyl pickup trucks around, with 7 escorts in SUV's I might consider taking his advice. As it is I take the bus whenever possible...

Here's a nice shot of Rove's photo op at Camp Casey 1 Monday. Notice what he's driving.

15. He spent 2 minutes of his 5 minute speech talking about
fucking GASOLINE DISTRIBUTION! Hundreds of corpses are being eaten by rats in NO, and BushCo's first priority is still OIL!

But I'm seriously sorry that you had had to use an extra gallon of gas in order to treat your lawn emergency.

16. Don't You Understand by * Saying - "Don't Go Out And Buy ......
gas if you don't need it" - he was using reverse psychology to get the sheeple to think their was going to be a gas shortage. Do you think he may have wanted to create a buying frenzy? Again this makes the point that the war in Iraq is justified (for oil). It justifies drilling in Anwar. More dead from the hurricane (an act of God - an act of nature) and he could say - in comparison to Katrina - not that many died in Iraq. So maybe we shouldn't send buses or food or water.

These people running this administration are 'despicable'.

And now we have a story that will dominate the news and news cycles for months - maybe years.

Certainly could take the edge off indictments that are coming down in October.

18. That's what I thought, it promoted panic buying due to
either running out of gas or prices going up to $6/gallon.

ChaChing for the oil companies. Great marketing...NOT !

17. I have a feeling we are going to be in big trouble real soon with
gas and this is our first hint. He's just looking out for the oil companies, not us. Panic in a week - or sooner - if that gasoline doesn't start getting around.
