Set the record strait, Dim Son is not responsible for the hurricane |
|
He is with out question responsible for Operation Cluster-Fuck. The disastrous display of incompetence that has occurred so far since the storm hit.
He is additionally responsible for diverting funds to his own little war in Iraq so he could make Poppy Bush proud of his little boy. Those funds could have greatly lessened the impact of this storm.
In his defense, I don't hold him responsible for the storm, that is all I don't hold him responsible for. He is and will remain a huge asshole in my book.

|
for not having National Guard standing by to assist for days. But not the storm itself.

in the increase in the number and intensity of hurricanes and Bush has denied that that's a problem.

5. not the storm, but.... |

No, it would be completely foolish and over the top to blame him for the hurricane.
But EVERYTHING afterward - I hold him totally responsible for. This is the worst display of leadership I have ever seen in my lifetime. Absolutely NO excuses for this disregard for human life, and tremendously slow response. Our fellow Americans are dying and being abused by neglect because of the idiot son and his homeland security. This has got to be our lowest moment as a country. Lower than 9/11 because our own government is responsible for this lack of direction, communication, readiness and leadership.
You pay taxes and trust your government to take care of you in a disaster, and when it comes down to it you learn they have no plan. NO PLAN! How Pathetic we've become. The world IS watching this train wreck.

...other leaders who have not done what it would have taken to protect NO from a bad cat 4 or cat 5 storm. The money he cut from the COE flood control budget was just bad politics, as usual. It would not likely have changed much on the ground when Katrina hit-- BILLIONS were needed to engineer NO's dikes and levees-- and anyway, any solution that might have been possible even if the money was unlimited could not have been implemented in time if we take 2004 as a start date. The political failures that led to this disaster go back decades, and involve government at many levels.
I agree with you about the response. The Bush admin has been utterly preoccupied with its masturbatory war against Iraq. Right now it can't do anything properly.

There's nothing to be gained by putting on blinders, except maybe the satisfaction of hating shrubya even more. But really, responsibility for the vulnerability of the Gulf Coast is shared by MANY people.
