Truckers were going broke a few weeks ago-how can they make it now?
Katrina is totally blocking this story. But, this must be a crisis.

1. They cannot.
Many are parking their rigs.

Some I chatted with today say they think that a diesel fuel shortage will bring truck traffic to a halt soon.

I can only assume the same would be true of the railroads.

Get at least a week's worth of storable food, as food deliveries will halt if that is true.

5. this was the problem in the depression
not that goods didnt exist, but that they couldnt get to market.

6. I heard today that FEMA is really adding to the mess.
Trucks that normally carry groceries throughout the country are being diverted to Louisiana. I know they need help down there, but how long can the supply chain be disrupted nationwide before the pain spreads to everyone?

I went to the grocery store tonight. I bought one of the last jugs of milk. They had half of the bread that they normally have and all of their beef expired today.
