Locational Relationship between Conv. Center and Superdome *Graphic Heavy
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 08:44 PM by TornadoTN
Ok folks, I have been there several times and I know where both of these places are located very well.

Look at this map: (cut and paste): upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3a/New_orleans_msi_aug31_2005_dg.jpg

Find the Superdome, follow a straight path down the highway running beside the dome. Now follow it to the bridge across the Mississippi. Stop before you get to the bridge. Look just a bit north, see that long, white building there on the left side of the river? That is the Ernest Morial Convention Center, where all of the death and desperation is taking place.

Now look at it again. A lot of the National Guard/etc. are coming in over that bridge, so they see the Conv. Center. Plus, look at the close proximity to the Superdome, and note that it hasn't been flooded.

Having set this up for you, tell me, what is the excuse that the National Guard can't get to them or FEMA "hadn't heard about them"? I am going to photoshop the photo later, but that picture alone should tell you that there is so much more to this story than we are being told.

1. Awesome photo but you could have warned the dialup users
I tried it myself last night and it is a monster.

Distance between the Convention Center and Superdome is perhaps three-quarters of a mile (distance across French Quarter from front to back is exactly one half mile, from left to right is one mile).

2. My apologies
My browser scaled it down, and I failed to check the size.

I added the note that this is graphic heavy.

3. Can you scale that down?
I have a wireless connection and even then it's taking forever to load.

5. Fixed
I took the photo out and now users can use the address to get to it.

I tried to scale it down, but it was taking too much detail out for the purposes of the demonstration.
