I only follow this because I damn well want to know my enemy. No apology for it. Tonight, Mr. Rove's Mannequin has given the early strategy: Focus on the evil looters, not the needs (except to occasionally acknowledge there are needs and talk about how Bush is meeting them), and then praise the rescuers, and how could anyone criticize them and what is happening, given these great efforts? As Greta is saying as I write this, Texas has opened its arms. Her hat goes off to it. No mention of the federal government. The problem is difficult, but it's not Bush's. Amazing. At least Rove is losing sleep tonight; this is tough. But, don't underestimate him, or this administration. As Greta just said, "The stories keep rolling." Oh yes, the anecdotes will, over the next few days. Not the underlying destruction, but the anecdotes. If I am wrong in three days, let me know.

1. And you can bet your ass that they will find some of the first people
that were evacuated and pay them well so that they tell how good of a job everyone did.
Watch that too!
Maybe the lady with the purple finger is available.

6. Earlier today I saw a CNN interview with a well-dressed guy
who'd arrived at the Astrodome and was praising Bush. It looked pretty suspicious, because he followed that up with a comment about how CNN had "saved" him and now he and his parents would be on their way to another state to stay with relatives. The whole interview looked phony, and he did not at all look like a desperate refugee.

13. Caught that...
Praised the president, state, & local officials.
...Mentioned job with CNN (was it a volunteer job? 'Cause he said he was volunteering somewhere?)

*Plus, he had shaved. Nice trimmed beard, too.

2. I caught a few minutes of local RW radio just a few minutes ago
Everyone was in agreement.. "If you see someone carrying a TV, shoot them on the spot". Don't arrest them, SHOOT THEM. I felt like vomiting.

3. Notice a lot of the M$M, even PBS
lead off with looting stories. It is rather disgusting. Especially considering how relatively calm and quiet most people are behaving.

The video and their stories don't match. Funny how none of this shotting has been caught on tape?

7. I particularly liked when....
Brown from FEMA was spouting his horseshyte and was on a split screen that was showing (gasp) the reality. Wolf Blitzer actually asked a lucid question about FEMA funding....maybe next time he'll be ready with some facts and do a follow-up? Wonders never cease...

4. Yeah I see it
"Bush critics hate our rescuers".

The problem with this line - ain't working, everyone in the country was a witness. Worse, the similarity to the "hate our troops" mantra will cast more doubt on that line as well.

Really, these weasels need to get wise this week and abandon support for the Administration or become has-beens.

did anyone hear the body count/fuel count question later?

<edit>wrong link

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4561408

"Irony is Sen Landrieu has been arguing for flood avoidance and
evacuation efforts for years! I've seen her and listened and if there is one person "NOT" responsible for this human tragedy it is her. She's done and will continue to do her darndest. Now that being said, let's let Cooper go off on FEMA. Come on, let's see his cojones when the real villians appear. I doubt it."

"She KNOWS the TRUTH she is Bush's biggest NIGHTMARE
yes anderson. Why go after her? is he looking for real answers? if so, very commendable. but I don't trust him. If he doesn't know that Sen Landrieu's major issue in DC has been hurricane preparedness. She subborns her love for the kids (she is a title 1 advocate) to this purpose. She's a damned prophet."

"Now, all I'm wondering is if we just witnessed another Karl Rove moment. What is motivating Cooper is all. May be he has heart. If so then like I said, I'm wrong and I'm sorry.

The TRUTH should be his objective, not another Karl Rove soundbite. Who arranged the interview? Would he talk the same talk to the President? I don't trust him because he hasn't spoken much truth for the first four years of this administration.

To make it perfectly clear, what would you think if he tried to take the same tack with Hillary Clinton. She's also a senator and is equal to Sen Landrieu in her responsibility for the carnage. May be more to Blame.

Ahh so sweet - to MIKE BROWN piece of shit"

"114. I think Cooper should get an Oscar for that performance
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 01:00 AM by Jose Diablo
Look, Cooper was one of the biggest boosters Bu$h had in the lead-up to the war in Iraq. At least an Emmy Award. He should have been an actor.

And now we see him blasting someone that KNOWS how big Bu$h fucked-up with taking money from the Army Engineers that should have paid for improvements in the levees around New Orleans.

I am not swayed by Coopers tears. Screw him and get Landrieu to start proceedings against this criminal outfit called the Bu$h administration.

I don't know why Landrieu didn't use this opportunity to burn Bu$h a new one. I would have, but I am not a politician. I would suggest sending Landrieu some e-mails pointing-out Bu$h's criminal negligence, which is rapidly becoming widespread knowledge and encouraging Congressional/Senatorial action to get to the bottom of Bu$h's theft of the money that should have gone to the levee maintenance. And to top all of this, Fats was in New Orleans, I hope he is OK.

This diversion of money has killed thousands.

Edit: Spell checker doesn't correct context problems. BTW, anybody else remember FEMA's first statement about how economically this hurricane's impact would be minimal. Well, if NO remains underwater for 3-6 months, probably every residence will have to bulldozed under. As for the port itself, how can cargo transfer from ocean to river be done without workers. Any rough guesses on the economic impact on the total loss of all residences plus the disrupting to shipping, to say nothing about the loss of refining capabilities and impact of higher fuel costs to all of us?

They really screwed the pooch on this one and I doubt even KKKarl can smooth talk his way out of this."

"Wow, welcome back to the real world - thank you - thought so too.
Facinating to watch Karl .. true genius .. did you get the part about gas prices/body count? How do they do that without a conspiracy? It's sort of eerily beautiful..if you know what I mean ... I mean, at least now we know what they've been up to while Bush was eating cake.

When he called her out, I wonder if he had a script? What if she bit? Wonder what that would have looked like. He was probably armed with some little factoid to nuke her with. Best to keep her powder dry. may be , dunno

She'd be a better President than Hillary I think. Not knocking Hillary, not at all. Just that Mary grew up with these red state assholes and can get along with them better."

14. Saying the same on his radio program today, and exactly my thoughts.
Spinning to make it appear UNPATRIOTIC to criticize the administration. Then Limpbaugh was criticizing all the left wing web sites and blogs critical of the administration and all the work they are doing. He's blaming the decades of localNew Orleans democratic politicians that have turned New Orleans into a welfare city.

Folks, they have the airways to spin this to make the left look bad and the right as knights in shining armour. Watch the attacks that will be coming at the left for letting this situation get to this point. They will deflect the real issues so their points dominate.

Once again we have NO effective way to get the truth out except over the internet. Unfortunately, people, either left or right only go to those sites that support their ideology.

18. I caught a painful earful of Innanity the other day...
He was referring to Fred Phelps' demonstration at a funeral for a recently fallen soldier. Hannity didn't tell his listening audience that this was ultra right-wing religious wacko Fred Phelps; he just said that it was some "radical group from Kansas" who were "an example of the anti-war crowd".
