This crappy 'chose to stay' talking point..
Doesn't anyone reporter ask 'what about poor, elderly infirm people without cars? Did they "choose" to stay?' etc...

1. Anyone with an ounce of imagination will see through that one.
How does a person evacuate with no money and no car? They're supposed to hike out and sleep on the highway?

In that situation I'd take my chance and stay home, too.

3. I know, but do any of the reporters ever CALL the shills on this talking
point?

I've been working a lot the last 3 days so haven't been able to watch much TV.

5. I can't afford a bus ticket.
Some of us are one paycheck away from being on the street.

Hell.

Half a paycheck.

6. They can take that talking point and shove it up their ass.
Like those people in the hospital they just forgot about? I guess they choose to stay? The elderly, people with no personal transportation or financial resources. What planet do these people live on?

I cannot remember being this angry, and I have been plenty angry in the past.

7. it is a crappy talking point
and one that must never be forgotten...Never forget that right wingers like those who currently occupy our government have no compassion whatsoever towards people they do not like and if anything bad happens to them well then they are not worthy of compassion but rather complaints about how they somehow brought this all upon themselves...

8. If the talking heads didn't hype every damn storm that comes
along as "the storm of the century, etc." then perhaps people would take the really big ones seriously.

10. no one chose to stay
even those of us like me & swamp rat who chose to stay...ya notice how we were summarily run out of town

if you were in a position of "choice," you were not allowed to hang around

no one w. a way to get out chose to stay

anyone who stayed had a damn good reason

they couldn't afford it, they didn't own a car, they couldn't get their family or pets together, etc.

fuck the "they chose to stay" nazis

karma will be theirs when they find out what life is like at gas station and grocery store without mississippi & louisiana supporting their way of life

i feel bad for the decent ppl who will also be price-gouged for everything from gas to chicken though

11. Not only the buses, the airport shut down early...
Tourists were trapped because they cancelled the flights. Then they were told to go back to the city...

One family got trapped because they didn't want to leave without a mom that was stuck in the hospital. They got her discharged just in time to get stuck on the Interstate, and have to turn around to get back to a shelter before the storm hit...

Many people were too sick to move... some decided to stay, but in the end, what the hell does it matter WHY you ended up there?

I guess if you 'didn't have a good reason', you deserve to die? Is that the logic? Idiots...
