He* blathers on and on, but still nothing happens.

I look back on Clinton, yeah yeah, he posed with moron* and moron* sr. but so what. I miss his charisma, his leadership, he clear thinking and ability to inspire.

Each time I hear that fucking moron* talk, it breaks my heart. I think about what could have been with Gore or Kerry.

This man* is despicable. I hate him.

colossal failure*.

1. I'll tell you one thing ...
Clinton may not have been perfect, but when something bad happened to ANY American, I never doubted for one minute that he actually cared.

3. WE are the leaders. WE are the leadership.
Why do you think the silence from the Democrats (with the exception of the occasional vaguely fart-like peeping noise from Harry Reid) has been so deafening?

Why do you think Mary (Obey The Will Of) Landrieu was on Anderson Cooper, lavishly applying smoochy little love bites to George W. Chimp's incompetent simian ass for the "great job" he's been doing on hurricane relief?

Why do you think the only people making noise even on the fringes of the Democratic "establishment" are Howard Dean, cancelling events and appearances out of respect for New Orleans, and Al Sharpton, kicking ass and taking names on Olbermann?

Because the Democratic Party CANNOT LEAD. It is a party of cowardly little time-servers waiting for US to show them what needs to be done and how to do it. It's waiting for leadership, and that leadership is us.

That leadership is the thousands and thousands of DUers and others from left, right and center who've swamped the White House switchboard and Michael Jerkoff's office at DHS with well and truly pissed-off calls. That leadership is standing in ditches outside of Waco and cutting no slack for AWOL leadership. That leadership is coming from the NOLA cops, tired of bullshit and bad leadership and telling the powers that be that they had better start doing things right, and in a big fat hurry. That leadership is lots and lots of people like you and me and lots of people we've never met making contributions they can't afford to the Red Cross, and dumping loads of ice into coolers and clothing into garbage bags and driving south. That leadership is shown by thousands and thousands of calls and letters pouring into television stations across the country, telling the talking heads and telling the world that we have had enough.

And maybe, eventually, after the requisite number of toes have been dippped into the political waters, the Democratic establishment may be persuaded to come out and "lead" us once more.

But I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

4. We are the leaders.
posted earlier but thought I would post as comment here as well to kick this thread.

We will make it through this situation because we are a strong people.

Our hearts have been broken.

Today we have screamed words of anger and we have cried tears of sorrow. We have felt completely hopeless and helpless watching the coverage of this disaster yet we have felt the goodness of humanity as reporters begin to report the truth and break down on camera.

Many posts here on DU have shown us how we can support the struggling individuals trapped throughout New Orleans and the entire region.

Jesse Jackson has arrived on the scene. Like him or not, this man knows how to accomplish his goals. He will help. He is a leader. He is a good man.

Our current leadership is proving incompetent yet there is an emergency session of congress taking place now that will hopefully provide some needed aid. Hopefully.

With every hour we become more restless. It is beyond our comprehension why those left behind at the convention center do not have any water or food. How is this being allowed to happen? Why?

So we do what we can at the moment. We are giving to the Red Cross and other charity organisations. Some of us are even providing shelter to the homeless. Be proud of yourselves. You are doing what you can.

In the days ahead we will do even more. We will show what it truly means to be compassionate. We will be dealing with this situataion and it's aftermath for months. Leaders will come forward. They always do.

Believe it or not, people from all sides are reading what we post on this site. Let them read. Show them who we are and what we are about. Lets work our hardest to provide solutions. So many of you do such a great job at this task. Thank you. Truly. Thank you.

We are the future leaders of this nation. We all feel it deep down in our hopeful hearts. Let us begin to show our leadership now. Continue to give. Continue to love. Continue to call out the faults of this maladministration.

We will eventually overcome this disaster but we will not forget how it was handled. THIS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AGAIN because eventually we will be the leaders. Learn from these mistakes.

Do everything that you can now. Cry your tears. Express your sorrow. Show your love and compassion for all our brothers and sisters who are forced to experience this anguish.

Then let us all move forward together to repair this nation.

We will rise from these floodwaters.

WE MUST
