The Republican rank-and-file can go two ways in the next few days. |
|
The first way, is they can start seeing just what happens when we have a weak government that can't protect us. They can see how their way of running things can easily turn their lives into something similar to what you see in third-world countries. They can stop taking the nice conditions built up in this country over the last hundred years for granted and destroying them. They can see what every-man-for-himself can bring upon them in just a few short days.
The second way - and this is what I direly fear - is the way they've responded to nearly every other tragedy brought up from their number, from Rush Limbaugh's drug addiction to the fact that we were lied to about weapons of mass destruction. They can make excuses, rationalize, accept, and reconfigure their philosophy and talking points to try to justify this as good. I seriously hope, for the good of this country, that they do not further twist right and wrong to defend themselves.

2. Say something against Bush* and you are an un-American traitor |

Say something against the US government and you are a Patriotic hero. Norquist wants to "drown the government in a bathtub" Rush "government is the enemy" This is one sick society we live in. Government badddd Bush* good. It is getting harder to stay sane much longer

Has there been any sanity since 2000?
With a prime example in the oval office of why abortion COULD be legalized, what IS sanity?

5. There's an even smaller core, their tinfoil hat contingent... |

...such as the people who join right-wing militias, who have been accusing FEMA of being some sort of martial-law conspiracy. I remember this from after the Mississippi River floods in 1993, and it looks like it's still going on. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=FEMA+%22martial+law%22&btnG=SearchI wonder what kind of spin they'd try and put on this.
