How many Wal-Marts have been effected by this?
Larry King finally asks the question that's been on everyone's mind ...

3. Yeah, just what we all were wondering
Can Aaron Brown get back on the air? Maybe team him with Jack Cafferty (after today's rants, he gets mega-kudos!)....Who gives a SHIT about the Wal-Marts, except for the poor people who worked at them, and right now, they don't care either, they don't even have homes.

7. I totally agree
Cafferty kicked ass! He was the first talking head I heard really talking about the race/class issues out in the open. He did our country a service today.

11. excuse me if you are paid by the hour YOU CARE
my husband is pd by the hr

i'm glad you have the luxury of not caring if you are suddenly out of work for several weeks

or months

please

stop & think before you post

some of the victims have gotten away & we can read what you're posting

it's hurtful

i realize we're not all of the same class but a little awareness that some ppl need jobs might be cool

13. I'm out of work right now, but normally, I'm paid by the hour
What I was saying is that these people have lost everything. They have no place to live, nothing to their names. Sure, the fact that they have no job is on their minds, but the question wasn't phrased that way. The question was on the grounds of poor wittle Wal-Mart.

14. I think you missed NGU's point, pitohui
And he did say that people who work there care, they've just got bigger things on their mind now (like the fact that they don't have homes).

The point is that Wal-Mart doesn't matter ... those jobs do, and those made unemployed by this tragedy are what's important, not how many walmarts were effected.

My heart goes out to everybody who is displaced or unemployed by this ... as for the poor ceo of walmart, i couldn't care less.

6. 43 ...

The truly horrendous part is that I actually know that because it has been reported. I have no idea which station. It was on a crawl at some point today.

One-hundred twenty-three (123) Wal-Marts were closed prior to landfall. Eighty (80) have reopened.

I found this such a ludicrously irrelevant piece of information that naturally it became embedded in my brain.

10. well, you made me chuckle
definitely an irrelevant bit of information, so no surprise that it's out there (and that it stuck) :)

8. i don't know but it's a lot
when evacuating through mississippi i was hearing on the radio such call-ins as, "stop sending ppl to walmart on xyz street we are out of gas and ice, and we have no electricity"

this hurts everyone yes even the wall

look we're all in this together even walmart even tyson even whoever you don't like this month, they all have employees hurting for a paycheck they can't earn if there is no electric

16. wal mart and i are not in this together
the people left in new orleans are (outrageously) in this entirely on their own. And its heartbreaking to watch. And the last thing I care to hear about is how wal-mart is suffering.

On a separate note, I'm glad you made it out safe, and wish you and everyone else effected the best :grouphug:

9. I will give Mr Scott credit for this...
He did come off as Walmart did not really care so much about the looting, he said the loss of good and buisness would take car of it self, and that there were more important things to worry about right now.

15. that is admirable
but then again saying anything different would open him up widely for criticism.

I didn't actually hear his response ... after hearing that questions I changed the channel immediately.
