Did the Server come under by a "denial of service attack" or something?

It didn't seem that busy for most of the last 8 hours?

1. People dying in the convention center in NOLA
Is what sent it over the edge, I think. So many of us are glued to CNN and to DU to vent about what we see there.

MSM is just coming around.

On Monday DU was saying "levy break" while the MSM and the Governor said all is fine.

On Tuesday DU and the internet said all hell was breaking loose and the MSM and the gov talking heads said things are going good.

That why I'm here. From DU we can see the world for real.

7. An interesting observation...
Is it that we just know more and are willing to report more, or is it simply that here we get it faster than they in the MSM can produce a clip about it and report on it?

10. I know DU is faster... and people like to help... so probably both?
A few months ago I was online here and someone here got an automated TsunamiWatch warning from USGS and posted it immediately - it was warning of a possible Tsunami off the CA, OR, WA coast...

By the time CNN picked it up (about an hour and a half later), everyone at DU knew that it was safe - that a tsunami wasn't coming.

11. I think it's simply that here we get it faster than they in the MSM...
...if by the MSM you mean Cable News, definitely. Plus we aren't paid corporate stooges, who are only allowed to use the AP wire, I'm finally starting to see other pulling stuff from AFP, Reuters and The Guardian, who often have stories that the AP only prints reluctantly.

But it's also that we have a LOT of VERY smart people here and I think their is sort of a "I want to post the Biggest, Hottest, Latest Breaking News FIRST!

I use a RSS reader that pops up new Headlines from dozens of News sources once an hour, but even with that, Someone else has usually beat me to it.

I don't know how some of the people here get their News so fast, they just do.

12. A lot of peple needed to vent.
We were all feeling rage today mixed with sadness. DU is like a giant support group at times.
