Can Katrina be compared to the dust bowl of the 30's ?
Or do the people of the U.S. have more compassion today?

1. Wait til you see the aftermath
Right now however, I propose calling the Astrodome "Bushville" ala Hooverville.

3. It's an interesting comparison
The Dust Bowl was much more incremental and not televised, but there are social and political similarities.

4. The Dust Bowl
wasn't some immense catastrophe that started with one huge dust storm which killed and displaced thousands of people. It was something that built slowly, over a period of years. A combination of poor farming practices and drought created the Dust Bowl.

Here's a link to a PBS program about it. Check out the timeline. It's fascinating.

5. no
there were no deaths of this magnitude during the 30`s. those who lost their farms moved elsewhere without the extreme trauma of this horrific event. the only fear we had to fear was fear itself and Roosevelt brought hope that things would get better...we have nothing but fear from the puppet and his masters
