The Canadians have finally arrived in LA!
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 01:20 AM by Tyranny_R_US
A Canadian search and rescue team in Louisiana says conditions on the ground are so dangerous, it has to wait for order to restore before they can get to work in the devastated hurricane region.

British Columbia's Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) left for Lafayette, La. Wednesday night after being asked by state officials for assistance.

On Thursday, the team was in Kenner, La. -- a small city of about 75,000 on the Mississippi River's East Bank -- where police described the violence and looting as "out of control."

USAR is working with Louisiana State Troopers, as well as the National Guard.

"It's far too dangerous for even the state troopers and police to wander out," said USAR member Brian Inglis in a statement Thursday on his team website, vancouver.ca/usar.

The VP is  Where now?

Congress is masturbating.

FEMA is still planning what to do in the event there is an emergency somewhere in America.

Nobody has the reins, people.

14. Ok, so I'm looking at Mapquest to see where Kenner is...
It looks like it's directly east of the NO Int'l Airport. I read the article and it says "Acadian Ambulance Service says it was greeted by an armed and angry crowd as it tried to airlift supplies into Kenner Memorial Hospital late Wednesday."

So I click on hospitals to see where this is on the map... but I can't find a Kenner Memorial Hospital... So I figure I'll look on Google, but when I do, I find a list of hospitals in LA and I still can't find Kenner Memorial Hospital!

There's a Kenner Regional Medical Center... could that be it?

Ok, and even if that is it, I'm looking at the map and I can see that this hospital is relatively far north of I-10, and it is really far north of Airline Highway...

Is it possible that both of these highways are blocked by armed people and they can't get through? That would be a HUGE piece of territory for people to occupy!

19. Ok, wait a minute...
I'm confused...

The Kenner Regional Medical Center (180 W Esplanade Ave) is north of the airport... pretty far north of I-10...

WWL is reporting Hwy 90, I-10, Hwy 3127 and Airline are all open.

Ok, why can't they go way to the south via Airline? To get to the parishes farther in? I'm really confused...
