Can someone explain this to me?!
I'm tired, and maybe I'm not thinking right...

I just read in another thread that the Canadians have arrived in LA, but they can't do anything because of the shooting.

Quote:"Acadian Ambulance Service says it was greeted by an armed and angry crowd as it tried to airlift supplies into Kenner Memorial Hospital late Wednesday."

So I'm like, Christ, where is this all happening? Go on Mapquest, look up Kenner, LA, then I look up hospitals... no Kenner Memorial Hospital. Ok, maybe it's just a small hospital I think, go to Google. Get list of LA hospitals. No Kenner Memorial Hospital. wtf?

Ok, so now I'm wondering if I'm going bats... So I look up Google News to see if I can find more info on this... lookup Kenner Memorial Hospital. One of the earliest stories I find is from USA Today http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-09-01-hospitals_x.htm

Ok, so is it maybe Kenner Regional Medical Center they're talking about?

1. Look for Kenner LA
I found it on Google Earth map. Kenner is just east of the NO International Airport. But Google doesn't show a hospital on the map.

Here's an address for the hospital
Kenner Regional Medical Center
180 West Esplanade Avenue
Kenner, LA 70065-6001

2. I came up with two options on a search.
Kenner Regional Medical Center is the short term care facility so they probably didn't get the name exactly correct. I would put it down to unfamiliarity with the area and stress.

3. Yeah, that's what I thought too, so here's another question...
If you look at a map of that area, that hospital is pretty far north of I-10 and the Airline Hwy (61 I think it is also called)...

Both I-10 and Airline Hwy are open, as far as WWL has listed on their website.

So, things are bad up in Kenner: Why aren't they going along Airline into NO to get people trapped on the eastside? Is this entire western area blocked with people shooting? I find that hard to believe because that's a huge area!

Am I crazy here? Maybe I am...

I'm sitting here watching the news in a state of disbelief and outrage. I was watching footage of one of the hospitals pleading for help and evacuation and thinking about Bush's lack of action.
