They need medical attention as well as food and shelter. Texas is the most logical location.
Besides, Gov Goodhair has primary elections coming up so he's actually going to let us do the right thing for once.

4. The news reported yesterday... |
|
that Texas officials want this to last days, maybe weeks. They will need to keep them for much longer than that.

... Or more likely originally, Goodhair didn't think to ask, but they've been working on longer term plans for the past couple of days now.
Don't ask me why that was reported yesterday, I have no idea.
Goodhair has scrounged up 7000 empty government housing units. They are housing people in all our cities large and small, people are also taking some of the displaced NOLA residents into their homes. This is all with the expectation that this won't be for a few days or a couple of weeks.
I'm pretty sure if he can get them to register to vote, Gov Goodhair would make sure they were taken care of until after the primaries. Well, only if he could be assured their support that is. Lucky for them that's not until March and they'll be out of here by then.

3. Really hard to go east right now |
|
Sending people wesit is much more easy. My suggestion would have been to try and make arrangements to use Texas Motor Speedway. They can get over 100,000 in the place for a race, and there are huge open spaces for parking and camping surrounding it.

has.
The MS Colesium was used as an initial evac route, but its merely an outdoor stadium in Jackson MS.
The Tad Smith Colesium at Olemiss has been open since the 2nd day.
If the poorest state in the country can house people, step up Tennessee, Flordia, and Georgia.

Even though the Dome is not being used, we are mobilizing huge efforts here. http://www.11alive.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=68663

11. Why not Disney World? |
|
Lots of nice hotels that could put them up there, don't you think? Besides, these poor people could really use a trip to Disney World about now! :sarcasm:
