'bush wants to take over the whole world, but he can't even manage his own
country..."

Some of you know I moved to France two months ago, after deciding the US was no longer the nation I loved, and out of concern for my family and our economic future under the republicanazis. Some have called me a coward for leaving, but my worries about the future of the USA under the bush regime are indeed coming to fruition far quicker and with far deadlier results than I imagined. I'm really sorry.

But that aside, my husband made this statement this morning as we set about readying our day and we were in tears over the catastrophe in New Orleans and the coming disasters ahead for the USA.

My last impression is this. Bush is using this disaster, and in fact perhaps even allowing it to fester, to distract you from his OTHER catastrophe in Iraq.

I'm really really sorry such horrible things are unfolding in the US. I'm really sorry.

1. Hugs to you and family!
You did the right thing. It takes more courage to take the first steps than to take none at all.

2. Give my regards to the French.
You want to know my take about what Bush is going through right now? In the last four weeks, he's been holed up in Crawford with Rove living in a trailer on the property. I think these guys were thinking about the imminent indictments that are about to descend on them via Fitzgerald. And I couldn't help thinking about how incredibly distracted they are right now because of the personal problems they created for themselves due to public decisions they have made.

3. Maybe we can still save ourselves, Mon Ami.
You're welcome back, once we've cleaned up NOLA and DC. But, if we can't, do you have room for more refugees?

5. America under Bush is like a sci-fi disaster movie
in living technicolor.

7. I seriously considered leaving too
I had my eye on Canada, but eventually decided that I was simply too old to start all over again. If I had children, I think I would have been more willing to make the effort.

But don't ever apologize for looking for a better home for your family. Ironic, isn't it -- the U.S. was founded by people leaving their own country for a better life somewhere else. This is a country of opportunists, so no one here has any moral highground on the issue of "loyalty."

8. You are not a coward. If my wife and I were financially able, ....
...we would have been gone long ago. Hope everything's going well in France!

9. You did the right thing
this country has succumbed to the lowest level w/ its current political & administrative chaos and maladministration. Your family will fare much better in France w/ the basic necessities.
Your European insight will always be welcomed for possible alternative theoretical approaches to the multiple challenges this country now faces.
