Another * project FUBARed. Where the hell did this guy come from?
Michael D. Brown was nominated by President George W. Bush as the first Under Secretary of Emergency Preparedness and Response in the newly created Department of Homeland Security in January 2003. As the head of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Under Secretary Brown leads federal disaster response and recovery operations and coordinates disaster activities with more than two dozen federal agencies and departments and the American Red Cross. He also oversees the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration, and initiates proactive mitigation activities.

6. He was an estate planner |

More importantly, a huge Bush contributor. The FEMA head before him was Joe Allbaugh, one of *'s closet friends. I'm sure Joe has never been happier about his decision to leave public service.
The fact is, FEMA has been a backwater for political cronies and lickspittles for awhile, and we're paying the price for it now. If Rove doesn't tube this guy before the weekend is out then I'll REALLY be surprised.

This will need to be investigated at a later time. Apparently, according to a post at Daily Kos - Mr. Brown's previous background was a the legal rep for an Arabian Horse Breeding Association. Are we actually supposed to believe he was the best choice available in our country for a position that deals literally with the life and death of American citizens in the aftermath of disasters?
So, it shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone in the Bush administration that Mr. Brown's "on the job" training program is culminating in needless death in our Southern States. In the same thread at KOS, it also states Mr. Brown has also already been recommended for termination in his position by Wexler of Florida because of incompetence in dealing with Frances in Florida.
Why is this man in this position?
