Cleanup profiteering -- pushing residents aside |
|
As half baked a thought as this may be, it occurred to me that those who understand the real enormity of the hurricane situation are those who live(d) there. They understand what is needed more than the cold hearted vultures swarming around them. What occurred to me is that these residents are going to be transported as far away from the affected area as possible so that corporate big wigs can take advantage of the tens of billions of dollars in relief money. The actual New Orleans residents are no longer needed. "No need for janitors and dishwashers anymore. Ship them to Texas where they're needed to clean up our shi*t." I feel that residents should be provided the relief money and the tools and training necessary to rebuild, not profiteers.

sorry to be so cynical, but I have been thinking the same thing for 3 days. BushCo will make billions off this.

I wasn't sure if this topic had been covered. The key is that when I donate to hurricane relief, it will suck that none of it will actually go to the victims, and more likely to develop condos and hotels for the rich.

Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

4. Some of it makes sense |

They are busing out the weakest among them, leaving the strongest behind to take part in the cleanup and rebuilding of profitable coastal properties. If this were a true and just society, those who take part in the building should be paid well enough to live there afterward. In reality after their work is done they will no longer be wanted.
