What is the name of this lady on CNN? |
|
The main show host (it's 8:41am EST) is oscillating between spluttering disbelief and flint-spark rage here on my television. I've never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever seen anyone on this Godforsaken network lay down the smack so accurately, so well, and for so long.
Who is this person?
(you can maybe tell I bagged CNN years ago, no idea who the new personalities are)

5. Yep... and EVERYONE this week is starting to chip away ... |
|
even Jack Cafferty, who gave a very nice diatribe against the government yesterday.

7. She used to be on the Today show. |
|
Weekend Today, if I remember correctly. She'd fill in once in a while during the week too when Katie was busy getting her colon put on film for us.

10. She co hosted the Weekend NBC Today show with David ? who died in Iraq |
|
from DVT. (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
I think she left NBC a few months after that.

14. My guess is that to Soledad, this is getting personal. |
|
She used to work on "Week-end Today" with co-host David Bloom. Bloom, you might remember, was one of the NBC network journalists who was "embedded" with the initial wave of invasion by the U.S. military. He died unexpectedly of a blood clot while reporting in Iraq. I figure that starting with Bloom and taking in all the insanity in incremental supplements has eroded Soledad's neutrality. I'm glad to see her emotionally react to the NO situation although I usuallly prefer journalism to be free of bias.

19. Yes, that and I suspect not being on NBC has offered some more freedom |
|
to actually report news. That's just a hunch though. I can't prove it. I'm happy to see it happen, whatever the reason.

|
She was the weekend anchor at NBC's Today Show with David Bloom before the start of the war. She left NBC shortly after he died in Iraq. She has not been the same since his death either.

9. Soledad O'Brien. She's been amazing this morning, |
|
referring to the "complete and utter breakdown" of the system, expressing disbelief and outrage again and again that the federal government wasn't prepared. When she had Ron Brownstein on to discuss the political fallout, they discussed how reluctant most elected officials have been to directly criticize Bush's failure, and she pointed out that they're probably afraid the flow of aid will be cut off if they do. Imagine, someone in the MSM pointing out the incompetence and petty vengefulness of this administration...

13. I caught the tail end and she is continuing the Great, Honest Coverage |
|
of everyone on CNN. She talked about how the politicos were acting as they were circling the wagons to protect themselves. She said even Mary Landieu did.

I think she was cowed by Cafferty and maybe by Hemmer.
By the way, what happened to that guy Hemmer? He was pretty good.

16. Cnn has provided excellent and honest coverage ... |
|
of the aftermath of Katrina.
They focused on the human tragedy v. "the looting," MOST of them won't accept talking points as answers ...
Through this CNN was there ... the other stations are getting more humanity and displaying more honesty in kind.

|
he was a nothing but a puddle on the floor when Soledad got through with him.
I stopped watching CNN for a long while also, but America gets what news it gets from TV. IMO, we need to hold our noses and see what they're doing from time to time. (I exclude Fox -- I know what they're doing. They exist only to propagandize.)
