1. LIke 45,000 for a football game
but it hasn't had that many since Earl Campbell retired.

2. well...for a game I'm guessing...
it's what, 40-60,000?

But, for moderate-to-long term (or hell, even short-term for that matter) housing...may be MUCH less.

3. i think it's different when they have to provide beds
I think the amount of people it can accommodate to live/sleep is substantially smaller -- but they've opened up the Ford (?) center across the street; Dallas said it would accept 25,000 people; San Antonio said it would accept thousands.

5. Depends on the use, between 42,000 & 62,000
Capacity: 42,217 (1965), 46,000 (1966), 44,500 (1968), 45,000 (1975), 47,690 (1982), 54,816 (1990, baseball); 62,439 (football).

To have people in there on cots certainly a lot less. But let's not criticize Texas for wanting to prevent yet another bad situation from developing. Texas has done more for LA than anyone else so far. They say they will find a place for the others and my bet is that they will make good on it.

6. Its Houston, and it could not handle more than a few thousand
cots, can shower less than 200 people at a time, and does not have food facilities to feed large amounts of people, unless all the vendors man their small food kiosks and the refugees can handle a diet of candy, hot dogs, and pretzels.

7. Houston vastly overestimated
the number of refugees they could safely take in. They have about 10k now. By the end of the day yesterday, they were turning buses away from the Astrdome.

The whole situation is just hideous. :-(
