One of my co-workers was talking with me a while ago and we came up with some thoughts of how to help people in NO.
He wants to join in the rescue effort. I asked him how much leave he had, he didn't have a full week. I think if people want to get involved in the rescue effort others in their companies could donate time to them, much as federal government people do when someone has an illness. I told him I was sure that from me and others in this company he could get at least a few weeks of leave to use for this effort.
We also discussed what he would do. I suggested he contact the local county governments in the area and see what type of rescue operations they would be putting together. Some local firefighters have special units that they send to emergencies and these people are very effective in this sort of situation.
Any thoughts on other things we can do? (besides the obvious - giving money and blood)

filled with water, food, formula, diapers, etc. and head straight down 75 as far as we can get into NO and take this on ourselves. Fuck the government and others. I donated to the Red Cross and am seeing NOTHING done with my donation. I can leave here around 3 or 4 pm. Is anyone else game????? I'm in northern Ohio. I'm sad, but now am MAD, MAD, MAD!!!

FLOOD the media and congress with faxes, phone calls. Keep the pressure on them. People are still trapped in their houses, slowly dying. They have no voice. WE have to be their voices. Shout for them from the rooftops. They still have a chance.
