Oil cronyism ties the Gulf of Mexico to the Persian Gulf
The current gasoline price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Katrina points to the underlying reality of oil that is driving our War in Iraq and othe policies in all the wrong directions.

It's hard to take critics of the War seriously unless some variation of these ideas come out of their mouth first every time they speak:

The war was about stealing oil and dominating oil markets.

The world's oil supply is about to decline.

We have made only token efforts to prepare for this be switching to other fuels like biodiesel (which is easier to make), which puts us at the mercy of price gouging by the oil companies.

No politician who is beholden to oil industry can be trusted with your family's economic well-being or the safety of your draft age son or daughter who will be sent to fight and die, not to get the fuel we need, but so that it's an AMERICAN oil company extorting whatever price they want from us, the consumer of 25% of the world's oil.

No one would fly planes into our buildings if we didn't control their governments for the benefit of our oil companies.

Changing to other forms of energy like wind, solar, and ocean hydro to create electricity or generate hydrogen fuel is not ecological pie in the sky, it's a matter of life and death for those of us who actually work for a living.
