5. Ah, your position
You must be knee-deep in water, sleeping in shit, and nothing to eat or drink.

My mistake.

2. Finally
A great idea. Only problem is everyone in America expects a profit. But something like this needs to be done to save lives.

7. Good idea I think
I think this is a good idea. Greyhound did the freedom rides through the South during the civil rights movement in the 1960s - why not some freedom rides now?

6. I was stunnned to hear about
the charter buses the hotel hired Monday, 10 for $25,000. Then the government commandeered them at the hotel. How did 10 large buses get to hotel if the way in & out is so treacherous? We are not getting all the answers. The more information we get the less I think we know about what is really going on.

9. Just called the corporate office...
a bubbly woman said well, we have sent all the buses we can, its the medias fault because they are not covering it. I said the mayor seems to think otherwise, well we are not working with the mayor she says, we are working with FEMA.

10. Let's do the math
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 10:25 AM by rocknation
During his radio interview, the mayor said they needed 500 buses and that a bus line or two should have been commandeered by now.

Approx 25k people left between the SuperDome and the Convention Center

Approx 40 people per bus

625 one-way bus trips

If a bus left every hour 24/7, everyone would be gone within 26 hours

So 500 buses should be the rock bottom minumum (and REAL buses, too, not school buses if they're going to be traveling for more than two hours). Of course they need places to go that could accomodate them for a month or two, but that should have been all figured out by now.

How many buses are they using now? Are people having to wait six hours for the buses to return? Maybe that's why they're raping and shooting.

GET THOSE PEOPLE OUT OF THERE!!!!!

15. Can WE charter buses and go? If DR. SANJAY GUPTA
can get in, surely we can. Can we charter buses from our home towns - mine is Columbus, Ohio - round up volunteers and supplies and go? I'm ready to go find the 'spokesman' that's at the Convention Center and let him show us where the help is needed!

They keep saying 'send money not people or supplies' but the Red Cross has collected $15 million plus from people like us and STILL nothing is being delivered.

I'm beginning to believe the public is being told to stay away for the same reason that cell phone cameras are banned in Iraq! The gangsters running this administration didn't get a chance to vet embedded reporters this time, and they don't like it one bit.

I live in an urban neighborhood, and I'm not afraid of the poor, the sick or the powerless. I'm beginning to feel that some of us NEED to go...
