The president is supposed to be, at the very least, a lightning rod for people's anger when the government isn't working. That's supposed to prod him to a better response. But Republicans think their precious little Bush boy should be untouchable, above and beyond criticism. So what the fuck is he good for?

Republicans are always ready to call Democrats and the left un-American, but what is more un-American than expecting people to worship a good for nothing monarch?

These two letter writers to the NY Times are un-American IDIOTS!

To the Editor:

Choosing to lambaste the president in the midst of a national crisis betrays poor taste and judgment. The president said what needed to be said to thousands of people who lack the basic necessities of life and certainly have no time or disposition to be soothed with "feel good" oratory.

In times like these, actions are more important than words or style.

Cornelia A. Tsakiridou

Philadelphia, Sept. 1, 2005

To the Editor:

How typical of your editorial page to criticize President Bush's speech. For the record, give me action instead of flowery words any time!

The president guided this country through 9/11 in a masterful way, and I, for one, feel that he will do the same for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Dolores Demeri

2. Agree...
Lets just count what actions Bush and the
Reich Wind Republican Party have resulted in:

- This Human Disaster in NOLA
- A Quagmire of A War in Iraq
- Five Dollar Gasoline
- National Debt beyond Imagination
- Class & Religious Warfare bered by Bigotry & Hate
- Corruption across all levels of government
- Pork Spending on Pals of Cheney
- Rigged Elections
- A Muzzled Media

And more and more and more.....

Every action counts George...
and I hope every one is a count on your indictment

4. Conason: Remain silent!

As they've done after every crisis, right-wingers are insisting that to question the Bush administration is unpatriotic. But no one should be afraid to hold our incompetent leaders to account.

http://www.salon.com/opinion/conason/2005/09/02/criticizing_bush/print.html

Sept. 2, 2005 | For the third time since George W. Bush became president, Americans are paying a catastrophic price for bad government. As the costs are tallied once more in death and dollars, we are being told that the wise and patriotic thing to do is shut up -- as if good citizens are obliged to remain silent about unwise and incompetent leadership.

Honest political debate over how and why we lost the great city of New Orleans, according to the latest dictates from the right, means "an excess of recrimination," "finger-pointing" and "villain hunting." Such a "vulgar" exercise risks overshadowing our normal national unity and generosity in confronting disaster with "divisiveness" and "partisanship." We are piously advised instead to do good and find common ground, to "be humble, compassionate and helpful." Thus speak the sages of the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal.

In short, we must simply write checks to the Red Cross and choke off any critical impulse.

Following such worthless advice would require us all to keep quiet even while the president of the United States again speaks falsely about matters of the utmost importance to the nation.
