Splinterists: you realize you're partly responsible for the flood, right? |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:22 AM by LoZoccolo
Had you not been making the senseless and irresponsible argument that there was no difference between Gore and Bush* in 2000, complaining about NAFTA when there was a net increase of jobs during Clinton's presidency and the like, Bush* would not have been installed as president and there likely wouldn't have been these FEMA and Army Corps of Engineers cuts (oh, you mean there IS a difference?).
Take some responsibility and cut out the show-off Clinton bashing and do your job in not letting this happen again.

That's why I think it's important to acknowledge that there is a difference between the parties and not to go around lying about it.

If you seriously think Al Gore would have been much better, you need your head examined. The nincompoop, cowardly Democrats who marched lock-step with the president in promoting the war, the Patriot Act and the rest of it would not have prepared New Orleans any better. None of the Democrats I know here feel much of anything would have been any different in terms of preparedness with Gore in charge. Go to hell.

No. I didn't. You and the rest of the idiot Nader-bashers should realize Gore lost because he ran a mealy-mouthed, ineffectual campaign. The people who patted the man on the back and smiled as he pulled the Republican-lite act are infinitely more to blame for this tragedy than any Nader supporter. You gave the people a choice between a Republican and a Republican and they took the Republican. Congratulations.

..I meant to say I'm not happy with Bush in power. But, considering the nature of Gore and the rest of the do-nothing Democrats at the national level, I'm not fully convinced Gore would have done much better. Of course, there's the ultimate point that the man lost his own election and that the International World Worker's Party took enough of Gore's votes in Florida to tip the election, but hey, I'm not expecting you or anyone else to go after the Communists. Go beat your drums.

I always point out to Communists the damage they do to the cause (along with the fact defending communist dictatorships is reprehensible in and of itself among other things). http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4386849#4395096

Hmmm, how else does one interpret the following quote?
"If you seriously think Al Gore would have been much better, you need your head examined."
Your quote does imply there is no difference between Bush and Gore.

I wouldn't be so upset if you weren't trying to blame progressives for agony and death that is happening right this very second. I've been here since 2001, and as I recall, you've been here about the same amount of time, more or less. So I'm really surprised about this.
But I'll tell you, I think you are being really ghoulish. I'm questioning whether you have a soul, a conscience. I believe you, sir, are part of the problem. I believe that you are far too soulless and calculated for me to ever speak to again. I believe that you need to try really hard to reconnect to the humanity you once had.
That is all.
You may now have the last word, because I refuse to deign to speak to you ever again. So give it your best shot; tell me all about how you're right. I'm far too disgusted to reply again.

...is calling to the forefront an important difference between the parties that some people thought it was cute or funny to intentionally gloss over so that this doesn't happen again. To forbid people to acknowledge this difference is like forbidding people from criticizing Bush* for his budget cuts which may have had a part in this.

Bush is responsible for being so slow and callous in his response.
The "centrist" Democrats are responsible for not getting the point 5 years ago about the dangers of corporatism, and waging issueless campaigns.

them. That is the way democracy is supposed to work.
There are so many reasons why Bush ended up in the White House, to single only one of them out is childish at best.
I repeat: Grow up.
PS - I voted for Gore, and I still think people who voted for Nader were not wrong.
