I just refreshed the page and here's what I saw:

then, it kicks in. Can't explain why. They probably don't even have the thing completely set yet, which is why it defaults to the program default time.

The date thing, I think it must be related to that "seconds since" arbitrary date, noted here

Yes, unix and some databases store their dates as an "epoch date" which is the number of seconds since Jan 1, 1970.

If a date field ends up as just zeros, that date would get interpreted as Jan 1, 1970 00:00 GMT. And when it gets adjusted to your particular time zone, that throws it back into the previous day.

They use unix. But not well.

something is very wrong w/ the poll. it had been showing the "correct" creation date, in present time, earlier today. just thought it was rather interesting that the poll for such a powerful question is not showing the results.

December 31, 1969 is the "default" date for a lot of computer apps. Which means they haven't gotten it completely set up yet.

This poll thing, it's not exactly new, you know? Not exactly new today. Or this week. This year.

But the one time they put up a question BOUND to get an overwhelming negative response...it breaks.
