I've always had a very strong gut reaction to Mr. Bush's self-satisfied smirk and that petulant tone of voice he gets whenever anyone dares to question him (not that he allows that to happen very often). They almost literally make my skin crawl, and I simply cannot watch him on TV; I have to wait for the summaries to come out in the print media whenever he deigns to appear in public.

This is appalling. He really looks like what is most upsetting about this all but unprecedented (in the USA, anyway) natural disaster is how it affects him personally.

During the next presidential elections I hope they show endless shots of the levees while intoning the history of the budget cuts for disaster prevention, and show him saying that no one had anticipated the levees failing over and over and over again.... And of course those great shots of him faking playing the guitar and cutting that cake.

With any luck he'll be a huge dead weight on whoever the GOP candidate is.
