Freepers you know who are stunned by the mess ** has wrought. Report here:
Sadly, I have not yet gotten through to my husband on it. I will have him listen to Mayor Nagin's interview on the radio to see if that helps.

But who has stories about people waking up?

1. I don't... have had the email fight from hell with our freeper EX friend
today.... he's a lost cause.

Last email I got in a nutshell was "no one could have prevented this" and "the budget cuts are Clinton's fault".... hopeless.

4. Me too.
I received a "I should be ashamed" email from my Repub aunt. According to her this "is not political, it is a National Disaster." I reminded her that is lives in Mobile, AL and was VERY lucky and because of that I expect her to go above and beyond to help the other victims. I'll be working at a donation center tomorrow, I told her to call me from the donation center she is working at. So far I have not heard back.

This tragedy is a horrible way for me to celebrate my 100th post! *sigh*

finger pointing. It WILL come.

Congrats on that 100th post.. and thanks for working at that donation center.

24. Congrats on your 100th post
and give thanks that * has managed to give you an arguement for the "it's not political" statement. If it's not political then why did relief supplies sit outside NO all night until * arrived today? Gimme a break, everything is political now. Just because they don't want it to be doesn't make it true. Liberals are able to donate, money, blood and time while still making a case for politics. So sue me. Oh and thanks for volunteering. :toast:

8. My spouse has long been a * supporter and a church-goer as
well. Yesterday at b'fast we were talking about NOLA et al, the levee problem that's been discussed for years, the emergency agencies who practiced with Hurricane Pam (simulation), the underfunding of Corps of Engineers, etc., - all subjects I've learned about since beginning to read DU. She said quietly "I didn't know that."

Watching * on his photo-op "briefing" earlier today, my former *supporting church-going spouse said with great force "unfuckingbelievable." I was so proud!

'scuse me. I'm not yelling at you. It's just amazing that some still blame clinton for the horrible state of our country today. I don't get that.

3. We need to demand removal of this INCOMPETENT
administration! Let us all band together and REMOVE this disasterous incompetent administration! In America we do not leave our citizens without their basic needs for 4 days! We should all drive to DC and sit until we have this administration REMOVED NOW!

11. I have already written my Senators and Congressman to
investigate what appears to be gross negligence on the part of the Bush administration. I also asked that they also investigate rumors that aid was held back from the victims who have been going without food and water for three days until Bush arrived for his photo op.

I recommend that all DUers do the same.

16. One of my senators is Rick Santorum. My Rep. is Joseph Pitts.
Those two jockey for whose head can go farther up Bush's ass.

Arlen Specter knows Bush is an incompetent asshole, though he's too weak to say so.

So, I'll have to find someone else to call.

6. Talked to my mom this morning
My dad, who is not exactly a freeper, but a fiscal conservative, is "outraged" at Shit For Brains' response. Talked to friend of mine who has a legit freeper wife and she feels the same way. What it all means I don't know, but my gut tells me they will pay a heavy price in the mid terms. Assuming Dems can craft a coherent message to highlight the gross incompetence of this mis-administration. I do have my doubts on that.

14. Saw two grizzled late-middle-aged men, who drove up in a
giant suburban, eating lunch, today, discussing how the president was useless. I don't know if they were GOP, before -- but I'd suspect. (Of course, my dad is late-middle-aged, and drives a Chevy Tahoe, and doesn't like Bush, either).

Saw a woman and a cashier get in a fight at the health food store - apparently they were aquaintances -- cashier tried to make an excuse for Bush ("he's got a lot on his plate"), and the other went off on her, yelling about five weeks vacation, and then the cashier finally agreed.

Rural Iowa, in a Republican county.
