OK DEms....Nancy Pelosi has got to go
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 02:18 PM by steve2470
Unless someone can explain her asinine comment about GWB's leadership to me, she is a piss poor leader herself.

4. It's called trying to restore confidence in government
When the entire country is freaking out over a massive national disaster beyond anything we have ever seen before (this is worse than 9/11), people need fconfidence in the government if things are going to get done. I don't agree with her statement but I understand why she speaks that way.

8. That's not right though.
There is no reason for people to trust the state. Look how they have abused that trust so completely.

18. Look where that got us the last time.
Have we learned nothing? If our Democratic Party leaders rally around the Crawford Coward again, Rove and Cheney will simply use that to commit other unspeakable acts. This has got to stop, and it has to stop now.

20. You don't restore confidence in government by lying about it.
How about actually doing something to restore confidence in the government?

There is no accountability in this government.

It's a big fucking lovefest of clueless idiots in mutual masturbatory fantasy.

of the Progressive Caucus.. but that is it.

Sound like Pelosi dropped the ball. Put any one of the CBC or Kucinich in her place, please!

12. I know some will say "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Democrat..."
...but my patience is at its end. We need to take a good, hard, objective look at our national Democratic leadership and start separating the donkeys from the jackasses, if you know what I mean.

26. "Democratic leadership." Now there's an oxymoron.
Or maybe that should be "oxymoran." And I agree with the OP. Pelosi needs to go. We need someone with a spine in there. Can you imagine what the Repugs would have done if something like this happened under Clinton? OK, we all know Clinton wouldn't have botched a relief effort like this because he would have been on it right away but just for a second, imagine if this had happened on his watch and he did exactly what Dubya has done the past few days. The Repugs would be calling for his immediate resignation and/or impeachment. That's exactly what the Dems should be doing but they're too spineless to even speak out on the matter and the Repugs know it. The Dems need to get off their collective asses and speak out about Dubya's atrocious handling of this disaster. If they don't stand up to the Repugs on this, they will never stand up to them on anything. The people have turned against Dubya on this one so the ball is in their court but the Dems remain silent on the matter. Silence is complicity.

That's just one really pissed-off person's opinion on the matter. As always, others are welcome to disagree.

15. I was saying this in one of my first DU posts
about her response to Bush's state of the union address. It was all conciliatory. She could hardly utter a word of criticism about Bush. When she did criticize, she made it look like a few minor quibbles. She had this pasted-on, robotic smile. She was happily playing Bush's war-on-terror game.

Nobody, I recall, liked what I had to say then :)

21. Democratic Party has suffered from lack of congressional leadership
The party is floundering without dynamic, shrewd leadership on the hill that can present a united front against a corrupt and incompetent administration. Re-pukes do what they want without an organized and well directed loyal opposition.

22. If anyone remembers....
It was Ford of Tennessee she ran against for the leadership. I think that having those two in the running just shows how spineless and impotent the Dem leadership has been during the Bush nightmare.

I wasn't even aware of Kucinich back then.

23. She's one of our best Democrats IMO
She's been one of the most outspoken Democrats regarding the war in Iraq. Do you really expect her to go on national TV and start bashing the president when we are amidst a grand national tragedy? Please tell me what good that would do for the survivors struggling for safety and their sanity right now.

And BTW no, I'm not sticking up for Bush...I think he is a miserable failure and quite possibly the worst president ever...but I really feel like this country needs to come together right now (our leaders especially) to help these poor people who have lost EVERYTHING! This should be the number 1 priority...the political infighting can wait until our country is stable IMO.

Flame away because God knows this isn't a popular opinion here at DU.
