"the people in this part of the WORLD"!? * says: |
|
all you english teachers out there: why "world" and not "nation" when speaking of katrina victims? why "america's compassion" for "refugees," which places these victims outside of "america" at least linguistically? the poor are a third world, after all, is what i hear, more accurately i suppose, they are a second world to the one of this GOP cult.

1. Maybe he thinks he's in Uganda or somewhere. |
|
Sure doesn't sound like he knows that New Orleans is part of America.

hospital and i was testing a patient for orientation to time, place, and sense of personhood. i brought this up thinking there was some kind of racist political theory behind it--and i am sure that is part of it, at root--but i didn't consider his word choice to be a sign of, well, zaniness, until i read your emotional response and thought more clearly about my own. thank you. * is assuredly mad, in my view.

7. He said "the good people in this part of the world" in all three states |
|
and I think it was calculated and rehearsed to prevent him from saying the wrong city or state in his travels today. I don't think they could trust to Chimp to remember where he was, so he just said the generic "good people in this part of the world."
But why he didn't say "this part of America" or "this part of the country" is really strange.

So it must be some other part of the world. They have black people there, too.
