REMEMBER THIS! Mayor Nigan did everything right! |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 07:19 PM by DianeG5385
He put as many of his poorest citizens in the strongest building that could survive the Hurricane...the storm passed, it looked like they made it through...People were out in the French quarter celebrating, no flooding....They went to bed Monday night thinking that while there was alot of damage they had escaped catastrophe. That night the levee was breached...Disaster...BUT WHO'S FAULT IS THAT???? YOU can lay that at the feet of BUSH defunding FEMA and levee projects. This disaster, no matter how you paint it is due to a level of incompetence by the federal government which heretofore we have not seen. Remember this when they try to pin the blame on the mayor, those scum!!!!!

4. He ordered a mandatory evacuation. |
|
He could have ordered it earlier; but not much, since the category 5 status wasn't declared until early Sunday morning.
In evacuation planning, those without vehicles came up. It wasn't addressed at the city level.
It wasn't addressed at the state level.
And at the national level, FEMA didn't order them to address it.
FEMA should have commandeered the city's buses, school and public transportation, flown in National Guard folks to drive them out with many, many poor on them. FEMA didn't; that would have been preempting the local and state officials and the disaster plans they developed.
One can argue that FEMA should have done precisely that, but then one can't argue the local and state people did everything right.

5. I believe it was Lou Dobbs I saw earlier |
|
He was really trying to drive home the point that the mayor is black. He was using that as a way to counteract the racism issue. I was kinda confused, but that's usually how I feel when I watch Lou Dobbs.

6. They are already blaming "local officials" |
|
O'Liely, Dobbs...O'liely was vicious, sneering when he said Gov Blanco, blaming those who stayed, etc. He is soooo repulsive, such a sorry excuse for a human being. I think Mayor Nagin did what he could do, and was screaming for help. It was Brown from FEMA who said he had everyting on standby, just waiting to go. Of course, Bill forgot to mention that. He's always disgusting but tonight he outdid himself.
OMG, now he's saying that Blanco didn't have a plan in place...where's FEMA in all this, Bill?
The only redeeming feature here is Shepard Smith, still talking about the people on the I-10 ramp being ignored. Refuses to place blame on anyone. How the hell can he stand to work with that SOB?
Oh, I don't watch Faux...my husband does, so I hear it in the background. He doesn't think like they do, he just gets a perverse kick out of their bullshit sometimes. He is just as pissed off as the rest of us.
