People at my local watering hole were openly mocking Bush today |
|
I had an urge for an afternoon beer and stopped in a restaurant/bar called Buffalo Wild Wings here in Central Florida. They had the big screens on and the volume up while Bush was speaking---- and I gotta tell you, everybody in the place was commenting on what a douche bag Bush is. I've never seen anything like it. The congressman of my small town is Repuke scumbag Tom Feeney for gawd sakes so it's pretty damn conservative around here.
White collar, blue collar, the servers, everybody was in a loud vocal way ripping Bush. It was amazing.

He's a Repub, but he says that Bush is completely incompetent.
If we give them somebody decent to vote for in 2008, I'll bet we can pull a lot of these people from the other side of the fence.

He also said that if the Dems ran somebody he trusted in 2004, he would have voted for them.
Not trying to start a flamewar, but it's been said before that Kerry didn't resonate with average Americans. I know at least one person who felt that way and it gave Bush a vote.
I really hope we pick somebody with more appeal to middle America next time.

Kerry didn't connect with voters the way he needed to. I wanted him to win so badly I overlooked his shortcomings. Of course, he still was a zillion times better than Bush.

is that Bush comes from exactly the same blue-blood East Coast Ivy League elite Kerry does. Kerry was a much better candidate than Bush in all regards, but Bush had a fake Texas accent and good PR people (and, of course, Rove) helping him to assume a completely invented persona. They actually managed to portray Bush as "the guy you'd want to have a beer with". What's happening now, I think, is that people are realizing that they wouldn't want to have a beer with him... that he's even more of an elitist than Kerry and couldn't give a shit about ordinary people.

One BIG difference is that Kerry (although upper class, the upper crust monetarily) has that responsibility of service to community as, for instance, the Kennedys.

BUT the person the voters most wanted to have a beer with is not the kind of person who can handle this sort of situation. As we have seen this week. So maybe it is high time American voters stopped deciding elections on that basis.

Kerry resonated with a lot of Dems, but we really need someone who can appeal to a very broad section of America with no-nonsense talk, being straightforward, and most importantly, someone who will say str8 up what they believe in and not take shit from Repubs.

39. There was another thread with his full name, a 20 yr old kid who |
|
broke into a school in NOLA and searched through all the bus keys (there was a parking lot full of school buses just SITTING unused) until he found one for a bus he picked, and drove around NOLA picking up 100-some refugees, they all pooled their money and gassed up 3 times and he drove them to the Houston Astrodome. They were the first bus there (ther renegade bus). He had NEVER driven a bus before.
Give the boy a medal. And a free college education.

Both know how to speak their mind, and neither is very likely to pander and seem less than genuine.
I saw a debate Feingold had with his opponent last year, and it was brutal. That is clearly a guy who pulls no punches and believes in what he's saying.

I was a bartender during the Nixon near impeachment. Our bar would fill up for happy hour with all sorts of different kinds of people stopping after work. We would put the news on and Nixon would appear making speeches about what was going on and people openly boo'ed him. There was no love lost. Why is everyone so afraid today?

Otherwise they'll just want to replace Bush with a "better" GOP candidate, and we'll be nowhere.
That's what worries me -- they'll make a scapegoat out of lame-duck Bush instead of seeing the problem is a party that doesn't support the people.
On edit: It is good news regardless...

When I see even apologists like Joe Scumborough and Bill O'Liely loudly criticizing these same Repukes they were so devoted to, you know America are finally seeing the reality of what they refused to for the last 5 years.
It's funny how those same conservatives who for the past 5 years dismissed our observations of the truth of this administration as simply musings of the "far-left, Hate Bush" crowd, yet are now being forced to acknowledge we were right.
Take every chance you get to remind the Cons that just like 9/11, the failed response to this disaster happened on the watch of their Repuke politicians they elected.
Just sad it took something like this to open their eyes.
