Poll question: Will we ever know how many died from Katrina/Bushtrina?
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 09:18 PM by Cobalt Violet
I get the feeling that they will purposely try to hide this information from us. Or that they will undercount the victims.

What do you think?

artificially lowered due to cannibalism.

5. They'll fudge the #' here's what I've been thinking
They will add those who have died after the rescued as those rescued.
This will inflate the rescued #'s and deflate the death #'s.

They will count all dead as if they died in the initial contact, when many have died from simple neglect since.

4. I'm sure we'll be told something, but I don't think anyone will ever
really know for sure. How many might have been very small families, like a husband and wife with no relatives, or someone like that 70+ year old veteran who lived alone and was soo happy that a reporter took him to whree his trailer used to be, and helped him find an old brief case with the papers in it to prove he was a veteran and get his disability check?

I think there could be many who are just gone, and no one will ever know.

6. I suspect the real toll will be vast, and reported small in comparison.
Elderly shut-ins, poor with only local contact amongst themselves, and so on will all get deliberately omitted from the body count.

The bodies are being allowed to drift away and rot and so on, and doubtless the collection effort will "focus on disposal" and not bother counting apart from "estimates."
