Info on Lacombe from my friend for any NOLA evacuees

Lacombe/Mandeville had a lot of wind and tree damage. These towns were in the eye and had a lot of trees falling into buildings, though not as much structural damage to buildings from wind. There are some roofs off here and there but not alot. It was mostly flooding and the wind and trees. My friend hasn't heard a lot about injuries. There's no power, no water, and with the flooding, water is a serious issue, but Lacombe/Mandeville have had FEMA and the RED CROSS there. They are very visible there with ice and water and food.

My friend was able to get into Lacombe late Wednesday. In some places it is fairly dangerous to be driving around--there are lines down--not live, but they are all over the roads and hanging out of trees. It is nothing like the city of NO, though. The water has receded, and people are coming out of their houses looking for what they need. The Sam's Club in Slidell actually has gasoline and people from Lacombe are sporadically getting their gas there.


There is some shopping--small==whatever is left in the Stop & Go. They are selling what little they've got. They're tallying stuff up by hand. People are only taking cash.
