Tucker: Injecting race into this story |
|
That's how he referred to people who even raise the issue of race playing a part, referring specifically to the CBC statement. What a dick.
Yeah, you have to stretch real hard to "inject" race into this story, cuz the pictures don't raise any questions at all :eyes:

2. You can't "inject" what's already inherently there. |

Tucker needs to go screw himself.

7. Do we have to inject flooding into all these stories |
|
about the hurricane?
That's about as logical.
He must have to summon all his powers of denial and ignorance to NOT see race in this story.

Damnit, that pissant is a sorry excuse for a journalist, his lack of compassion is staggering and just inexcusable. Fuck him!

that what they see in front of their eyes isn't what's actually there, they are fools.

9. I totally agree ... but what it does |
|
is give them what they can consider an excuse.
There are plenty of people who see racism, but want to pretend it isn't there or that it isn't really racism. That was true before the hurricane, and I have no doubt it's true of plenty of people who are watching this unfold on TV.

15. Sharpton won that debate |
|
That wimpofabushshill was trying to tell Al what he was suppose to think.
Sharpton cut him to bits.
Go Big Al!
The Rev. also said that Kenye West had his support for his remarks.
The Tucker didn't want to deal with that hot potato at all.

10. And that's kinda the obverse of that conservative argument |
|
(or perhaps the corollary) is the plea stop talking about race: "let's not be hyphenated Americans; let's all just be Americans, plain and simple,"
OR the one that goes:
"I don't see colors when I deal with people, we're all just huamn."
If you make race invisible and something not discussed, you make RACISM invisible and something not discussed.

13. I think it has A LOT to do with income.;.... |
|
sure race plays a part in it, this could even be Bush's Rwanda, but racism is the cause of the ignorance that leads people like George Bush to have NO CLUE what its like to live on such little money that you can't leave town.

16. I don't think anyone would deny income is a factor |
|
but people have been denying that color is a factor. This is not meant as an attack on your previous thread, but it's worth noting that, beyond the obvious and immediate angle of the demographics of those left behind, there is a systematic and institutional racism that remains in American culture, and that structure is a big part of the reason that the poor in NO are overwhelmingly African American and that African Americans in NO are overwhelmingly poor.
I agree with you that income and poverty have a LOT to do with it, but given our complex and shameful history of race relations in this country (and in that region particularly), the two simply can't be separated.
