I'm going to get myself into trouble yet...
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 12:02 AM by Mythsaje
I posted something to our local pagan list that was overtly political. My wife, the moderator, chastised me for it. Ah, well.

So I sent the same thing to both Washington Senators and my local Rep.

With any luck they'll pay attention.

Katrina--A wake up call for America.

It can't be ignored. Even the Corporate Media is on board here. What has been allowed to happen in New Orleans was too much. It ripped away the masks of compassionate conservativism and revealed it for what it is...just another illusion cast by the rich corporatists over the people of America.

The people are seeing it now. It's all over the TV. They've been watching the people in New Orleans suffering, crying for help, and watched how slow this administration was to respond.

The gap between rich and poor has never been so intimately exposed. The news isn't hiding the fact that many of these people didn't flee because they had no means to do so.

What happened is a PRIME example of class warfare...perpetrated on behalf of the rich and influential against the poor and vulnerable. It's more than just incompetence, though I'm sure that played a part. It's about sending our men and women to a foreign land for the sake of oil and profits, leaving the homeland naked and unprotected. It's about stealing money from important infrastructure projects in such a way that emergency preparedness is compromised.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU ELECT REPUBLICANS. The Great Depression. Unnecessary and possibly illegal wars. Katrina. The utter destruction of a historic American City!

Bush played guitar while people were drowning...the comparison to Nero and Rome is unavoidable.

The Secretary of State went to see a Broadway show and went shopping while men, women, children, and infants died.

Dems! If you're for real, quit recoiling from the charge of "Class Warfare."

Just look 'em in the eye and say "Damn straight. You declared it and we looked the other way. For a while. But not now. We're done. This is no game. People have died and the gloves are off.

"It's not even class warfare anymore. It's bare-knuckle brawling. You pigs have gotten away with too much already. Now it's time to start giving back what you've stolen from the American people. It's time you gave them back their dignity."

If you don't, we're going to make you."

7. If your wife chastised you, then the wise thing to do is admit defeat as
gracefully as possible.

Another approach is to edit your thoughts down to about 150 words and write a LTTE. Stick to one point and make your case.

9. I just grinned
It was a fait accompli...

And if I took two-hundred words from it I'd steal most of its thunder.

11. No you wouldn't. Try it and you'll be surprised. Cut out every redundant
phrase and unnecessary adjective. Then put it aside for 24 hours and do it again. You'll end up with about 150 words of pure verbal power.

The nice thing about LTTE is that your thoughts may be read by several hundred thousand people. I know one prolific LTTE writer that had over ninety letters published last year in papers with over a hundred thousand readers on pro-Dem topics.

Please, please give it try! :hi:

Katrina opens our eyes. It rips away the masks of compassionate conservativism and reveals it for what it is... mere illusion.
We’ve seen those in New Orleans suffering and crying for help.
Our income gap has never been so exposed. It’s obvious that many of these people simply couldn’t flee.

It’s class warfare...perpetrated on behalf of the influential against the most vulnerable. It's more than just incompetence; it's about sending our kids to a foreign land for profit, leaving the homeland unprotected. It's about stealing money from infrastructure and compromising emergency preparedness.
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WITH REPUBLICANS.

Bush played guitar while people were drowning...a Nero comparison is unavoidable.

The Secretary of State went to see a Broadway show and went shopping while innocent citizens died.

Dems! Quit recoiling from the charge of ‘Class Warfare.’

Stand up and say "Damn straight. You declared it and we ignored it. That’s over. Hundreds have died and the gloves are off.

"It's not even class warfare anymore. It's a bare-knuckle brawl. You have gotten away with too much already. Now it's time to start giving back what you've stolen from the American people. Starting with their dignity."

8. P'haps Condi should go see Les Mis

...Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men
It is the music of a people who will
Not be slaves again....

Ever since November 2000 I have listened to this musical almost daily.
