...it's at least the tiniest bit comforting that FEMA isn't as all-powerful and omnipotent as was portrayed on the TV show.

Or maybe they ARE omnipotent, but they don't want to tip their hand over something as meaningless as a few thousand average citizens.

3. The Bush administration will announce a FEMA fix, just like CIA

They will destroy it completely and create a new office the Czar of Natural Disaster Response to be placed inside Homeland Security.

The crisis in N.O. was fated when local, state and federal officials accepted the idea that they didn't have a way to evacuate the stranded poor from New Orleans in the event of a hurricane. See the RAW story about the July 24 _2005_ article in the Times-Picayune somewhere else in GD.

The decision to privatize evacuation was a license to kill the poor through neglect. No person serving the city of New Orleans should have tolerated that as policy.
